Wallowing in irony
Still we have only found one planet with life on it.
Scientific Method is only widely used for about three centuries now. Give it some time.

Yeah, those 'trips' of yoursThey could have just asked me, i've been there.
That's sadly true, it's lucky we manage to find our own, we usually remain in touch with it.But none with intelligent life.Still we have only found one planet with life on it.
Whoever is in charge of these things had better name it Chiron.
I'd rather wait for an inhabitable planet to use Chiron, personally.
I rather doubt NASA will still be around in hundreds of years to care about the answers. During that time, we will either have advanced enough to overtake such a probe, or we will have regressed enough that we will either not care, or will have forgotten.New York Times article said:It could take hundreds of years, but such a mission, Dr. Marcy said, could jolt NASA out of its doldrums.

You need a White Star? What for?

Is that really a surprise given that we have only partially explored one solar system so far? Finding a planet orbiting the nearest neighboring star which could likely support life just increased those odds substantially.Still we have only found one planet with life on it.

They have to name a planet around Alpha Centauri Chiron. I'm going to start lobbying the few astronomers I know to make it so.
What makes you think this must be the only planet orbiting Alpha Centauri?
Pseudo-habitable, minimum. The original Chiron did have a toxic atmosphere. But is should be reserved for a planet that's actually habitable.
Fairly sure Cameron stole it from the game when he made Avatar.![]()

Ah, I stand corrected then. Carry on.Toxic atmospheres have been an aspect of science fiction for a while.
