Have you ever seen the spanish escutcheon? Either Aragoneses, and by extension Catalans; Castilians; Leoneses; (Sorry if it's not the right word)and Navarres, and by extension Basques are Spanish. If a person don't consider himself as Spanish, ok, he's free, but the Catalans are Spanish too.
But anyway, it'd be better if we post maps again.

There is a difference between nationality and ethnicity. I doubt our forum Catalans and Basque deny they hold Spanish passports and papers.

Exactly right. Catalans are Spanish, just as the Walloons are Belgian. How self-declared Catalan separatists/nationalists see it is a different matter altogether.

Right. The problem here is that Spanish is a term with political and ethnical connotations, so when you tell a Catalan or Basque independentist that he is Spanish he will tell you that he isn't, but if you tell him that he is administratively Spanish then he will have to agree with you.
