Marine le Pen? Is that a seefood sandwich?

Seriously, any particular reason that one region voted for her? Are they known bastards or something? (Assuming she takes after her dad with regard to political ideas)

short version: the more minorities are represented, the more people look right. (I bet you can hear the "they take our jobs", "they kill our welfare system" in every countries) NS scores pretty good in the area too.

Also, don't the overseas departments vote?

ofc they do (see corsican ones for instance :p).

the light blue in the last map should be named "european surfing paradise"!

O rly? Then show my a better purposal for an africanization of Europe.

Follow rivers and mountains with a few straight lines thrown in for good measure.

I was bored so I drew a really quick 5 minute one

The borders follow geography a bit more, while still violating ethnic and cultural areas.

Though since I did it quick the borders still come out to be rather straight and blobish, not as natural as they should be as with some states in Africa.

You should also take mountains into account, but that's nice.

On the theme of Africa

The old empires and there name sharing modern nations.

All right, here's a preliminary version of my Mass Effect Galaxy map. Most fan-made maps out there are inaccurate due to a) inherent ME inconsistency with real galactic geography; b) inconsistent placement of star clusters throughout the series; and c) their own misunderstandings.

Therefore, I made my own map. It's unfinished (I need to add the mass relay routes and perhaps "borders" of major species' territories), but I tried to make sense of the existing inconsistencies and bring them in line with how the Galaxy really looks like. The picture of the Galaxy is probably the best 2D representation of how we now think the Galaxy is shaped. Of course, there is nothing to be done with the place names - places like the "Horse Head nebula" do exist, but usually in a completely different part of the Galaxy. So, let's just say the ones on the map are different places which just look the same and have the same names ;)

If you spot any errors in spelling or stuff like that, let me know please.

The Asari and Turian colours are very similar for being so close to each other. I think "Horsehead Nebula" is supposed to be only two words. I'd write out "nebula" and "cluster" in full each time.

The Phoenix Massing, Valhallan Threshold, and Pangaea Expanse are misspelled.

Im my spare time, I have created a fake country.
The Grand Duchy of Rugia, based on the actual island of Rugia.

Here is the country with their administrative and electoral boundaries:

Here is the Population density, though with unlabeled units:

Here is the demographic breakdown of Rugia:

Here are the election results of the last General election, both Parliament and Town Council, as well as the main political parties. The Current government is a SDP-RCP coalition.

Here is a descriptor of how government is elected:

Spoiler :
Government is split into two tiers, the Parliamentary branch and the Town Council branch.
The duties of the Parliamentary branch is to represent the interests of the districts in national and international policies, such as economy, tax, education, health, defense, foreign affairs, immigration and so on. The Parliamentary branch has both law-making and voting power. This is the Lower House, the Volkskammer, ‘people’s parliament’.
The duties of the Town Council branch is to oversee the maintenance of local communities and issues such as road upkeep, domestic services, local citizenry disputes, leases and licenses, demographics, public housing, street cleaning, public area upkeep and some transportation issues. The Town Council branch have no law-making power but has some rudimentary voting power in either delaying or vetoing a bill passed by the Parliamentary branch. This is the Upper House, the Stadtkammer, ‘Town Parliament’.

27 districts in 5 regions produce 201 seats which are allocated via proportional voting according to each district where elected MPs take their seats in the house of Parliament. MPs are elected by party lists.
27 districts in 5 regions produce 5 Town Councils with either seven or six seats each, one seat per district and one seat per region, producing a total of 32 seats. MPs are elected via person. If more than two candidates run for the same seat and no candidate captures 50% of the vote, then the two largest candidates vote in a second round.

Town Council Election Result Map.

A second version of the Mass Effect galaxy map. Spelling errors corrected, the mass relay network has been added, and Eagle Nebula has been moved a bit to correspond better with the in-game map (it's still in the entirely wrong place of the galaxy, but what the hell). The old version has been deleted.

If you spot any further errors, let me know.

My, oh, my... That's not even africanization, that's... the Horror. :suicide:

surprising to see that the Salarians haven't really expanded much beyond their own local cluster.

Serpent Nebula = Citadel?

I am not really surprised about the Salarians. They don't seem like they care to expand that much. There could be other factors, such as their comparelatively short life spans or some of their advanced technology and differing view or reproduction and sexuality (as I recall, reproduction i only done out of necessity not because of pleasure or other forces) that relieve population pressures that would encourage expansion. Nor do they seem to fit well in establishing mining and other economic colonies, leaving that to the other races and acquiring it with service and advanced technology.

The one that somewhat surprises me is that the highly agressive and militaristic Turians did not expand a lot, though it is possible that there are more relays in that section of the galaxy that have not been visited. Same for the Salarians, there is noting saying that this is all the active relays in the galaxy, just all that can be visited in the three Mass Effect games.

Yes, the Citadel is in the Sepent Nebula.
