EDIT: Symphony, when I first noticed your avatar I thought I was hallucinating. Although, as long as its not Azale with a PRC flag, I suppose the fabric of reality and my sanity still stand a chance at surviving.

I'm in mourning for the inevitable and highly deserved downfall of Western civilization, and expressing my support for the only logical successor (though the Communists still irk me). Refer also to my signature. You will be returned to your original programming in approximately six days.

This revelation is not historically retroactive however, and I express my interest in taking the United States in that timeline in order to prevent such a thing, if only fictionally.

I've actually been considering on modding again (though im not really sure, especially with school just beginning). I might be interested in doing something of yours das. I need something relatively simple, but complex at the same time.

Well what exactly do you have in mind? What time period?

I really should create some sort of a grand achive of das althists for public use one day.

Symph, the sentiment is not new and the downfall of Western civilization has been prophesized all too often... Still, I generally agree that it isn't doing very well at all lately, and that China is the most likely successor.

I've just realized that the vast bulk of Americans have no concept of long-term thinking, and instead just generally prefer the easy and spineless solution. There is no more can-do attitude and all the fire and gumption have simply fled the spirit of the people. This all applies every bit to Europe as a whole too, only in many cases they're delusional about their security to boot. So, I'm rather angry, particularly as I recall putting my signature on a peace of paper saying I would lay down my life, if need be, to defend such decadent and weakly-principled people, even if now it's no longer valid. I believe I might have been temporarily insane. So, story made short: week of mourning. If you want specifics, for whatever reason, it's more of a topic to be discussed by PM.

More on subject, since that is indeed the althist I thought it was, I announce my interest in the United States, and declare my intention to make life hell for anyone else who tries to take it. Do not fail us again, Azale!

Technically I want it too, but I didn't make sure that virtually all the nations are at least slightly interesting for nothing.

My problem is that I can't run imperial countries like Germany, although not for lack of wanting to try (because it's Germany, natch). Austria sounds like me, except I only wanted to genocide the Balkanians under my control, as opposed to actually doing it.

Regardless of the attitudes of some Americans, we do still have one of the largest standing armies on Earth, considerable technological superiority, and not to mention a large enough nuclear arsenal to deter a Chinese nuclear strike. Not to mention, their force projection capabilities are garbage, and their only carrier is a rotting hulk used for training. The superiority of the American submarine fleet, air wings, and the strength of our forward bases (not to mention the myriad contingency plans put in place for war with China,) and the gravitation of an increasingly nervous Japan to the U.S. sphere, indicate that a limited conventional war could be less than a debacle. Let's not spout gloom and doom yet. Not to mention, the PRC is atrociously incompetent politically, corruption is rampant, and the simmering anger of rural Chinese is only held in check with the use of the paramilitary police and the army. We won't be seeing a Communist California for a long time, with luck.

Let's not take the wobblings of the media as the views of the majority of Americans.
