I know I am pretty late here. Probably no one will read my posting. But I wanted to say this. Many posts show that they lack respect for other cultures. It is already pointed out. It is really funny how people think what their culture says must be the best thing. "Murder can be justifiable in certain circumstances but rape can never be ok" Who said that? In many cultures if a lady goes out of her way to provoke the desire in man, it is justifiable to rape her. Just becoz your culture thinks it is not justifiable, it doesnt mean it is not universally. Why murder in war is Ok and rape in war is not Ok? These are all just kneejerk reactions and irrational ideas becoz we think of sex as something mysterious. Imagine this scenario. We call all women (and men for that matter) and give them two choices. "Get raped or get murdered" How many you think will choose death? I WONT. Though I am a guy, I am sure most women wont. Rape can never be worse than murder. If it is worse, most of the rape victims will commit suicide, which doesnt happen obviously. And if rape is worse than murder, it is better to murder the victim after the rape? Or first murder and then rape the body? A rational person can never say rape is worse than murder. It is just a kneejerk reaction coming out of thousand years old weird ideas about sex. In my opinion this japanese game is no worse than any murder oriented game.

Rape is never justifiable. Murder is rarely justifiable either & people who excuse butchery around the world on online forums are armchair scumbags.
Murder is ok is self-defense but you never have to rape anyone in self-defense. Rape simply put is never justifiable except in stupid hypothetical scenario threads ("A madman holds you up & threatens to kill a whole village unless you rape Barbara Walters, which button do you press?!!11!")
I'd choose death. Being raped lives on in perpetuity in the psyche of the victim. Now that you guys know how I feel, don't go raping me.
From what I've read the right call in regard to this game was made-sounds disgusting. Amazon certainly has no obligation to sell it, even if it was within rights of people to make/play it. I don't really have anything to comment on about this new 1-posters thoughts but some other things in the thread interested me.
I generally don't like very violent games but it's more complicated than that. The media has a terrible obsession with portraying videogames in all the wrong ways because they are simply stupid, and I think that's why people will spring up to defend all videogames when only one thing is mentioned. Stuff like Australia's Internet censorship and general ignorance (I remember an article in a major newspaper I think, the New York Times or Washington Post, calling Halo a cult video game
) lead gamers to a strong "slippery-slope mentality." Of course I'd support freedom of speech in videogames in the first place so I'm not really for censoring/illegalizing any types of games, but it is my opinion that some are worse than others. Violence itself is not the problem - if anything it's the justifications and circumstances surrounding it to not encourage real-life things like cop-killing, gang violence, or in this case, rape. So Gears of War is better than Grand Theft Auto(GTA is probably acceptably mainstream for me but I'd still avoid it), let alone something like that JFK assassinator, but the main thing is I consider games on a case-by-case basis.
One side-comment: I'm very much against trying to regulate anime/fiction in regards to sexual depictions of "minors." A cartoon is not child-porn and I would defend this as freedom of speech, even if I didn't like it. Heck, even disregarding things like Lolita (I haven't read/seen) there's so much mainstream stuff like Romeo and Juliet that would logically fall under this category. Disapproval of cultural standards (often Japan these days) is not a justification for removing rights.
Lastly, just wanted to post this, (PA has been on fire lately overall IMO)

Any such culture is depraved, as far as I'm concerned. The way women are viewed and treated is a basic, fundamental sign of the health of culture or society.

Imagine that -- a culture where you're just standing on a bus, or sat on a park bench, or waiting in line at the grocery store, then some bloke comes over and jiggles your bollocks, or rubs his crotch up and down you, or grabs your hand and thrusts it down his pants. Those ratings are horribly biased. I've played a game that's listed there with an even lower rating, and I liked it, and it wasn't even Japanese.
