America is not one entity, but a collection of individual states

Diversity for its own sake is pointless.
Diversity isn't for it's own sake. I'm not sure what you mean. I'm not talking about racial diversity (although that is generally an asset to, genetically)

IMO, it's always better to have more ideas & ways of thinking even if a large percentage of them are bad. For example better to have a library with 10,000 books, 1,000 of which are moronic than one of 100 books where only 3 are terrible.

In the biological world diversity is a necessity. We may just all die because we're foolishly destroyed one too many irrelevant species'.

Canadians are far more different from province to province than Americans. It's quite clear amongst us that we're still a confederation of British dominions that still only barely manages to stay united.

I've never seen abhorred democracy.

While a large portion DID favor slavery, that was a Constitutional right. There was also their right to secede.

Democracy, as in government by the whole people? Most definitely. That's why we have the electoral college, and why the state legislatures used to appoint senators. The first had some decent arguments at the time, due to the horrible communications they suffered under, but it was sold as keeping power out of the hands of the people.

For the second, I'm simply pointing out that the founding fathers were anything but omniscient. We've certainly developed our country far beyond their wildest dreams. I mean that literally. None of the founding fathers would be that pleased with modern nation states, but they'd also be ticked off at modern equality towards gender and race. Again, by your admission they allowed slavery in the constitution. Not the best evidence of the founding father's brilliance.

I wish we were less of a single entity than we actually are. Its unfortunate that all of the States have given up so much power to the Federal government, especially the right to tax.

You know, thinking more about it, there's almost certainly more diversity in Spain alone than there is in the entirety of los Estados Unidos.

Yeah, those wackos have the Catalans, the Basques, and the Galicians in the north alone.

well hey, if I say I'm Californian I'm less likely to be shot then if i say I'm American

Somehow I expect that I might have the opposite effect if I say I'm Georgian.

Just say that you're from the other Georgia. Then you'd only get shot if you were in Russia.

Diversity isn't for it's own sake. I'm not sure what you mean.

Sometimes it is. And when it is, it's pointless.

And this 'OMG MY AWESOME COUNTRY IS MORE DIVERSER THAN YOUR STUPID COUNTRY' penis contest is stupid. :)
