Ank09 - DI1 Redux - 3CC AW

Thanks a lot, Bugsy! :)

Now... looks like we'll have Abe in all but start #2.

#1: Not bad, good production possibilities, but I personally don't like Floodplains as disease might strike until we get Hospitals... which will happen very late, if ever.

#2: Great start with a food bonus and good production capacity.

#3: Lots of grassland and plains... not so good on production, propably.

#4: Good start position, food and production nicely, but also has floodplains, which are a risk.

I'd personally go with #2, if not then #4.

lurker's comment:
Hey guys, I was wondering if I could be a backup/benchwarmer/cheerleader for this game. I can't believe I missed the sign up for this...

I also like number 2. Seems to be the most productive tiles to work.

If we're going to risk the FP's, I'd prefer #1, as it seems to be more well-rounded, with shields, food, gold, and a lux.

Ok, ForTheEmpire, you're a backup if someone drops out. :)

So far 2 votes for #2. What do the others say?

Gotta go for #2.

Wait a sec, isn't this a Democracy? We already have three votes, let's roll! :p

I can't start it until tomorrow so we can be gentlemen and allow the lady her vote.

Thank you m'lady. That's five votes for #2. I should have the first 20 posted by noon Pacific time.

Early – I found Beijing on the spot. Start BW at max. Build a barracks then a warrior.

Middle – Improve our surroundings. Complete the warrior=> archer

In 3450 BC, a conscript Russian warrior approaches from the north.

She’s up Pottery, CB & WC. Nothing is for sale. Very well. The madness begins.

I love the response.

We chase the Russian for a turn then whack him. BW comes in and we start IW. We build an archer and start another.

Late - Send the warrior over to pop the hut and…

I go min science on IW. Build an archer and start another.

I think I have found a very nice location for our second city. I’m posting a screen shot.

Since this is 3CC, I feel this needs to be a team decision. This location doesn’t overlap with Beijing. We will probably need to settle our third city to the south some where on the coast.

Let me know what you think.

Bear with me here, never done a _CC.

What about the spot 1 SW of the warrior on the mtn? I realize it's a bit far, but would be a nice spot after expansion.

If that's too far, then you spot is fine, though it looks like we'll get at least 1 tundra tile.

Fish, wheat, freshwater and forests. What more could you ask for?

Bottle of bourbon I guess. I like it

I was also thinking of 1SW of the warrior to catch the furs, but hte current location is great too... So I think we should settle where the settler is.

We'll need to explore more to know where to settle our last city..

REMEMBER: 24h to post a "got it", total 42 to post turnlog and save.

It looks like Bugs still has a turn or two, and just paused to get input. Anyhow, I see no save.

A compromise: how about 1 S of the warrior?

Maybe I shouldn't post this late... gah.

1S of the warrior isn't bad either... I'm bad at deciding this kind of things... :undecide:

I consider everyone’s opinion. While the furs are a good reason to settle the northern spot, we can always get the furs with a colony. In fact that’s the way we’ll get most of our resources. I think the number of grasslands make the southern location a little better. Lacking the bottle of Bourbon that Bede would like, I found Shanghai. Oh nice! We’ll have dyes in the expansion. We need to get a garrison in our new city. Here’s the view in the east:

And the view in the west.

I was sending the warrior to garrison Shanghai. If you are threatened at Shanghai, the worker can be shifted to a warrior. I would check out the potential of a city site at the mouth of the river to the east and then I wouldn’t explore any further. South of Shanghai looks like tundra and I wouldn’t waste any effort exploring there just yet. I’d just make improvements, strengthen our core and get ready for an archer rush on Russia. Let’s hope we have iron somewhere in all these mountains.
As soon as possible, I’d increase our science budget. We don’t want to go min science too much longer. I was gathering some cash so we could make some deals on the next victim we meet.

Shanghai must be emphasizing production and working a forest -- that Worker will complete in 4, but growth won't happen for another 19 turns. Shanghai should switch to working the BG.

That river to the east is looking good as a third city site, though of course we should poke around first before deciding on a spot. Considering we don't even have another Settler in production, though, I guess I'm thinking a little far ahead.

 to Bugsy

OK, I see it. I'll play tonight.

Looks like your spot worked out pretty well, eh Bugs? ;)

Cuivenen is very correct. Shanghai needs some MM. I must have had some :smoke: for lunch in between playing part one and part two. Hopefully everyone won't think the :smoke: effected my decision making at founding Shanghai where I did. I was just counting potential food in the two locations, going off the assumption that population is power.
