1650AD [preturn]: Ok, things on land look good, but the sea is controlled by our enemies... research is ok... the AI has snagged all wonders in sight so I don't know what to use the leader for..

IBT: No landings... the AI just manouvers those ships around the place... frustrating.

1655AD [1]: Lift sci to get physics in 1

IBT: 2 units land... and I forgot to get rid of a Russian settler pair last turn.

Start research on Magnetism, coming in 22.

1660AD [2]: I counted wrong. It was only one cav. Kill it and get a promoted cav.

Lose a knight to the lb-settler pair.

1675AD [5]: Takes 2 cavs, a reg warrior (:lol: ) and a musket to kill the two cavs that landed.. (4-3)

1685AD [7]: Kill yet another settler pair... (5-3)

1700AD [10]: A settler quartet lands... 3 vet cavs kill the 3 vet cavs, and all 3 of ours promote. :yeah: (7-3)

Still some turns until we have Magnetism...

Pre-flight – 1700 AD – Not much. Twelve cavs are not going to cut it.

IBT – A Chinese cav is dropped off.

1705 – Kill the invader. Bump science up for a while.

IBT – Three Greek cavs are dropped off.

1710 – Kill those three.

IBT – Four Greek cavs this time.
1715 – Kill three of the four invaders.
IBT – Lose a cav in Persepolis to the remaining Greek cav.
1720 – Kill the cav.

IBT – A Russian settler pair is dropped off next to our cav, a single Greek cav is dropped off.
1735 - Kill the Greek and add two Russians to our slave collection.
1740
IBT – A Chinese cav is dropped off.
1745 – ooo, lost a HP killing that one.
IBT – Greeks start ToE.
1750

After Action – Another Chinese unit will be dropped off next turn. Keep building units and ships. Soon we may be able to attempt another landing. Keep building worthless roads. It keeps the AI’s ships busy.

1750-1770

Fighting off Chinese and Greek incursions. Greeks landed cavalry and infantry with a settler in the homeland and there is another landing pending in the west. Chinese landed two groups of four cavalry at a time and then a rifle/settler pair in the NW tundra.

Moved the cannon to cover the strait and wound the Chinese frigates that are preventing the movement of our galleons and frigates (built a couple of those by disbanding caravels) out of Susa. The Chinese fleet is now sailing for home. As soon as they disappear around the corner send the fleet east and follow with the cavary in Susa. There will be at least one frigate to provide escort if the one in the strait that sank a Greek iron clad survives a Chinese attack.

Russians landed a pike and settler in the southern jungles. Dispatched.

Turned research off so I could upgrade the caravels.

Going to be one hell of a fight once we get to Greece.
 
Sounds pretty good. If we get the fleet to work, we'll be in a lot better situation... that is our weakest link here.

took a look at the save yesterday.
  • i think we should go full science to get our free IA tech. maybe even disbanding some units guarding S landmass (but we need most of them)
  • our navy is looking better, but we still need more (means building frigates for me)
  • invasion: E or W?
 
I'd go east and use the mountain next to Moscow. We should also consider taking a settler along form a city on the other continent and disband our southern city.
 
i still don't like the plan to dispand the city, that will cost us ~1/3 of our production als well as our economy. however, the landing is what counts now. i'd have tried to land on a tile where we can destroy one city to get rid of the culture there and build a fort, but a city would be stronger. i think i'll prepare a settler and hope we won't need him.

the greeks attacked the ship stack and got to the galleons :confused: (they lost all 3)
->build galleons until better ships (unless we can use some bombardment)
chinese are following the ships


notes:
landing next to moscow might be impossible (for cannon support)
i'd choose anyang (N to avoid river)
MM can give us 3-turn cavs in pers & hopefully pasar (planted forest; maybe join workers) running neg food (alternate) and also some gpt in susa
settler on his way, only 5 cavs, 6 muskets and 3 cannons ready to ship over
keep the workers close to the core ( :worship: rails :worship: ), you can use the time to build forts (on the 2 muskets)
run with the ships and fortify them when attack unavoidable may help
:mischief: maybe we get a coal next to capitol and use the leader for IW :crazyeye:
 
Things will start getting very interesting as we make the invasion. If the landing holds expect some long turns. We also may want to keep the first city for a moment to build an army.

If the turns get really long, don't feel like you need to play all ten. A minimum of five turns in the late game, max ten.
 
Sir Bugs is right. 5 turns is enough now... even with only three cities this will be long..

infantries... uh-oh. This will be hard with a big A.

I am very sorry, but I am going to have to ask for a skip here. The end of this week and start of this week have been busy, and I can't spend the time required on this SG at the moment. Sorry :(.
