Apocalypse Now

We should start trading immediately.

Both Joao and Ramesses have surplus wine they're willing to trade for our clams, and Augustus is willing to spare a few GPT for our corn (though we should maybe wait for the GPT to get a bit higher). It's not much but we could really use some extra happiness/cash. That way we can both work Kyoto's good tiles and run scientists there.

Nice to see Ragnar gone! 1 down, 5 more to go.

If we're going to whip something, I'd actually whip workers first. We can grow while building libraries but you can't grow building workers. And we can push the happy cap pretty fast once we start trading for surplus :) And we should OB with Wang to get more foreign income.

Our situation isn't a disaster yet but we probably won't be warring again for a couple hundred years :lol:

Also if we get Buddhism spread, we should switch immediately. It'll let us beg gold off of Augustus.

Nice DE :),

I will look at the save latter for deeper comments, but I am a little worried about the fact we are researching a thing that 3 AIs has already (math)... what to do... what to do...

Cheers

We could somehow make sure that there wasn't three AIs that had it once we ar edone teching it... I mean... Or... Ehm...

No, seriously, I started on a Worker, but we need a couple more. OB and trades both sound like good news, and perhaps RR is right that we should tech something else, we can easily trade for Maths once the HG are built when we have so many beakers invested in it...

Alphabet would be the other tech that comes to mind. We can build research to get out of our tech hole since so many of our cities have hills (and will soon run out of infra builds).

Hi all :)

We need to decide what to do with the GG (we are not in a hurry though as it is likely there won't be any war before long, mediaval times at least).
Ramses has a settler east of Upsaala... This city should probably build a library rather than a monument...
We can trade some wine :beer: against one of our clams to Joao, this sounds like a good trade.
I think we can afford the candy city but then should wait for currency/COL before any more settlements...
We need again more workers (5 so far I think) and scientists (in Nidaros?) asap ...

About tech: Shuyhe has a point with alpha (it can be nice to actually build research to reach col/currency) but then again two AIs have it and it's unlikely it will have any trade value :(
Right now I am thinking either alpha or aesthetic (we could build Zeus for cash with ivory, and Nidaros has quite some trees)...

Thoughts?

Roster duty:

Rolo -> up,
Pigswill -> on deck

Cheers

Got it......

What does the team think regarding next tech? We need to discuss a little more before Rolo's turns I think because the economy is not so hot in this moment (not talking of RL :lol:) and we can't afford to let the AI escaping in tech...

So to sum up the options:

alpha -> math (trade) -> calendar
math ->calendar
aesthetic -> math (trade) -> alpha (trade) -> calendar
another completely random path... (including other needed techs like monarchy, currency, COL)

Cheers

First of all, sorry for the delay. It was my intention to play yesterday night, but I couldn't log to CFC and only downloaded the save today.

Second , sorry for the number of sessions opened in 410 . I think we had a bug like behaviour and I wanted to test if it was reproducible ( I'll post something in the Bugs section later: the clam-wine deal with João was cancelled in hitting enter, without any reason ( in fact it even prompted the window saying that we had our first :) resource online after the cancelling of the deal..... )

Third: it is interesting that nobody remembered that we need hunting to have Ivory ( and + 1 :) ), even if we have camps ........
Spoiler :

After Hunting we got to Alpha....

Anyway, the trades....

Civ4ScreenShot0087.jpg

I decided to grab the gpt trade ASAP: we are technically insolvent, so money now is more useful than more money later.

A religion spread:
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0089.jpg

We can join the faith :p ( I would recoomend it, but not until we get to Alpha... )

After some turns ( and under the thread of a Egyptian settler team ), and only after having decent gpt @ 0%, I founded the candy city:

And OFC, some demands, all denied:

Now some random event babble:

I used the +3 diplo option.... Ramesses seems to be the big dog in this side of the continent :scared:

After some hiring of sci and some turns @ 100, we finally hit alpha ( maths queued )

Now the bad news:

Well, the good news is that we will not have stupid ideas about warring too soon for a while :p

Sorry for playing this ammount of turns, but IMHO it made no sense to stop before having alpha. And forgive the cottaged bananas, dyes and sugar: it will take a long while to get calendar anyway :/

We should join the faith, then beg from our brothers of the faith. Cities should build research until they can grow big enough to do something more productive. We should tech math-calendar as we have lots of calendar resources that we need to bring online.

We should indeed join the faith; I think we might get some generosity out of them. Even a cheap tech or small change (AC has 100 gold which he might be willing to part with) will help us at this point.

We also get a GS in 8 turns at Kyoto. We can either settle him or bulb him on Compass for tradebait. I favour bulbing him for Compass; while not as expensive as Philosophy it's a tech that the AI is slow in researching. It's more expensive than Monarchy and Calendar, with a few turns invested or some cash to throw in we can likely obtain Currency as well.

Who is up now?

Up -> Pigswill
on deck -> Shuyhe

I will look at the save after work :) (tech situation looks trash though)

Cheers

Got it.

Adopt Buddhism. Build research. Research maths. Bulb compass. Trade techs.

Sounds straight forwards.

Straightforwards indeed...

140bc (T0). Adopt Buddhism (anarchy). Whip monument in Satsuma. Kyoto reverts to research.

125bc. Beg 30g from Gus.

110bc. Satsuma monu>granary.

65bc. Hathabu mon>lib.
Beg 20g from Ramses.

35bc. Maths>calendar.

5bc. GS bulb compass. Sack scientists in Kyoto. Swop to currency.

10ad. Compass to Ramses for calendar, 130g.
Compass to Jo for currency.
Compass to DeG for med, masonry, archery, 50g.
Research 40%. -9gpt. CoL in 9.

25ad. Hanging Gardens bidl.
Compass, 30g to Wang for construction (-1diplo Deg for trading with worst enemy).
Compass to Gus for HbR, 50g.
Maths to Deg for priesthood, 5g.
CoL in 7.

WFYAABTA? Who cares? Let's build some elephants.

Adopt Buddhism. Build research. Research maths. Bulb compass. Trade techs.

Sounds good... We should get another GS in 8 turn in Kyoto who should be kept for philo.
After Calender, med -> priesthood -> COL I think, with a trade for money and monarchy. We should also increase our workforce in preparation for calendar and higher happy cap :).

Good luck Pigswill, let gets us out of this hole :thumbsup:

Cheers

edit :too late... let see what happened :)

OK new save :)

Well played! I still think we cruelly lack workers! 6 with 7 seven jungle cities (sorry to repeat that but these plantations are waiting for our worker!).
We can trade gold to Joao and should get the maximum happiness we can find, including a trade of monarchy (with COL?) asap. I think we should swicth in caste + HR after COL because we have some cities with good food tiles, new higher happy cap, and an urgent need of tech to trade... so a load of scientists in Osaka, and Nidaros, as well as candy city could help us tremendously, bulbing philo and the way to liberalism...

What do you think guys?

Roster duty:
Shyuhe -> up!
Raskolnikov -> on deck

Cheers

edit:
Let's build some elephants.

Do you want to war soon? I think we can't afford that and tech decently at the same time... I'd rather wait for drafted muskets and trebs (trying to grab nationalism with lib). But perhaps I am too cautious (it would be a shame :) )

Good set Pigswill! Nice to see that the Compass idea worked out well. Yeah, I would've preferred to bulb Philo as well but sometimes you just cannot wait with bulb gambits. We can now try and rebuild our economy. shyuhe, don't forget to trade for Monarchy ;)

And of course, war.

If we're going to war I only need to know one thing...

How far from here to the Mahabodhi?

I think we have a good chance of taking Thebes with ellies/cats. Sure he has longbows but he's not protective. An ellie/cat army with the occasional spear (be sure to get them from Kyoto so we get formation on them) thrown in will stand a decent chance against Ramesses.

And again, the Mahabodhi... *drools at the thought of all that gold flowing into Japanese coffers*
