Even though I am sure it is a joke, I still wish that the downloads of the two sites could be merged in a single system. That was the part of Civ Junc that was positive. Glad that I'm not going to have to pay to get thrashed in GOTM though. ;)

they took too much time to admit it, which started to scary us and it wasn't that fun, if they admitted it earlier, it would be better.
better not be so sure, thunderfall didn't say anything, until now...

Spoiler :
Two of the Internet's leading Civilization fan sites have forged a permanent alliance. Dan "DanQ" Quick, Chief Owner/Administrator of Apolyton Civilization Site (ACS), and Thunderfall, Site Administrator of Civilization Fanatics Center (CFC), are merging their respective operations to form Civilization Junction (civjunction.com). The two will take on the role and titles of Co-Owner/Administrator, much like Quick and fellow ACS co-founder Markos "MarkG" Giannopoulos did in 1998 when merging their individual CivII fan sites.

By the end of the month, most of ACS' and CFC's services will be integrated and made available to the public under the CivJunction (CJ) banner. Among the highlights: the disbandment of Apolyton's Directory service in favor of CivFanatics' Downloads Database, the en-masse incorporation of Apolyton's CivGroups service and moulding that site's PLUS subscription service into a pay-for model for key operations including "Game of the Month", "Hall of Fame", and "Junction University". Work is already underway to merge the sites' two forums. After the merge, the combined forum will have nearly 10 million posts, making it the 77th biggest forum on the web.

ACS and CFC staff have been working hard behind the scenes for much of the current year in preparation for this announcement. Other than Quick and Thunderfall themselves, many of the existing staff members are expected to join the staff of the combined site, although they may play a different role. Individuals who have served on neither parent site's staff will also be a part of CJ's team.

"This is a truly exciting time for the Civilization community. We believe it's in the community's best interest to merge the two biggest and oldest fan sites, to make it the ultimate destination for all things Civilization", said Thunderfall.

"We are seizing on the opportunity to combine the extensive resources of both Apolyton and CivFanatics that have been cultivated for many years”, said Quick when asked to comment. “Some may ask why we are taking this significant step now..."

Speaking in the third person? :p

To them I say, why not now?
I would say that the most opportune time to have done so would have been in the early days of the two sites. Now that each site has thousands of members and it's own way of doing things, it will be much harder to facilitate. Also, the members of each site could polarize into opposing factions.

While I do agree that the sites should be merged, I believe the time for merging them has long passed.

Also, what will happen to the moderators? Will the mods at Apolyton join up with the mods on CFC? Will we end up having like 8 mods for the Civ 3 Creation and Customization Sub-Forum (I just assumed Apolyton has 4 mods for this, if they have this sub forum there at all). Or will some current mods be out of a job, so to speak?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If it's a joke, I am not amused.

Thunderfall, we need to know the unaltered, 100% pure, no BS truth. Joke or reality?

well they sure fooled me... BRAVO!

i have officially been humiliated on 2 major public forums :D

I'm not seeing anything but guesses still.

AAHZ is a 'Poly mod. :p

No, I don't think they are.

And also, why would AAHZ say that they've been made a fool on 2 forums if they were in on the whole thing?

Well, I hope it's a joke. Otherwise, I think that I'll move on to other site, and try to convince Thorgrimm and Flamand to set up de Sci-Fi workshop elsewhere.

why in hell is thunderfall taking so long?

He is toying with our paranoia. Or is too stunned to move at such a massive popular revolt against the merger.

We could just overflow his inbox with thousands of PM's until he answers. :mwaha:

Spoiler :
Who cares, we know it's a prank by now. Check the answers in the NES forum. ;) And the site that went offline, etc.
