But all this faffing around has gotten in the way of actually playing Civilisation. I haven't played a single turn since all this stuff blew up.

I'm pretty sure they both have the same IP - if you connect them through a router, they are going to have all the same IP on forums. Do you pay 5 Internet fees a month, and have 5 different cables from outside to your house? ;)

Don't see how this works. In many cases, the IP address assigned by the ISP to the customer router is via DHCP. I turn off my router, then turn it on again, and my router aquires a new IP address, albeit in the same subnet.
Unless the ISP is providing static IP's to each and every customer, which I don't believe many do, there is no way to ban someone, other than a Civ user name.

Funny. I currently play Civ first time for couple of months.

Yeh, but my whole way-of-no-life is being threatened here!

Exactly... boy some people are so insensitive to non-lifers.
We are the last "free attack" zone left in a politically correct mad world.

Yeah, same as my ISP - dynamic IP addresses would get around perma-banning, and they wouldn't ban whole ISP ranges....

Proxies easily get passed perma-banning :p
Beat me to it.

Depends, one can ban an IP location too. ;) You'd need much more advanced things to get past that.
Possibly, but there are ways around nearly everything.

i won't do anything such bad in order that thunderfall perma-ban my account, but to me, that wouldn't be so bad, because i've got 5 computers in my house
I mainly post on campus. There are 30 computers in this room, each with their own IP addresses (duh!), so I just move over one.

My thoughts in a put in a more professional manner. And with tech jargon to boot!

We think so, yet we don't kniow, but soon, we will know :). I would find it rather funny if he announced the plans are for real - so many people would...have a (hopefully not serious) heart-attack. I'm sure he would listen to the points raised on this post and come to an agreement anyway.

Not that I think its true, just my speculations on the possibilities (it might possibly be true...and what better time than April 1 to post it? ;) )

Come on TF, come and announce that this was all a joke. Please? :please:

It had better be a joke

Spoiler :
Show us, then :p

As a side note, I'm still not being fooled. I just want to see what proof mIRC has :p

The official mod protest site is down. TF didn't post any re-assurance that this is true. It was started on April 1st. Not all mods are in this, actually except those that said that are quitting they never assured us that this is true, good, etc. Turner said goodbye and asked to be taken out of position, yet he is still a mod. If I get to see him without the mod banner below his avvie, I'll probably believe. ;)

Enough proof for you? ;)

I don't know. I have 3 computers. All with the same IP. And I assure you I turned off and on my router a number of times, and still have the same IP. I'm not that great with networking stuff. :) BTW I'll try to turn off my router (though I did it before) and see if I have the same IP.

Edit: Tested. I still have the same IP. And wherever I tried this, my IP didn't change. I don't know.

Not quite. I need to hear it from TF's mouth, or read it from his post rather.
