I am a coffee addict. BIGTIME!!!!

I think half of the recipes I put onto El Justo's cooking thread were ways to funk your coffee up.

Kinda. I drink 3 cups every morning. But, if the coffee is free (like at work), then I drink it black (so I won't have too much), but if I pay for it, I make it taste good.

At home, on the weekends, I grind my own beans and use my own coffee press. Mmmm.

"Sleep is a cheap substitute for coffee"

On another note: it takes about 25 acres of land to sustainabley support one coffee drinker.

I consume very little caffeine.

On another note: Have a look into the 1989 global trade talks that revolved around the agreements on Global Coffee prices. Then look into the establishment dates of companies like Starbucks. Then look at what happened in sub-Saharan African countries that had colonial powers convert their economies toward export oriented commodities such as.....coffee.

I believe that is they outlawed caffeine, nearly everyone, regardless of religion, race, beliefs, everything, would take up arms together to destroy the evil ones.

Also, I heard that they were making a caffeine gum awhile back. Able to keep you up as long as you chew it. But the people that tested it said it tasted worse than a big chunk of snuff on your tongue.

Too lazy: what's your punchline? It's good for their economies? I can believe that. In fact, trade of consumables is what makes the world able to function as a global economy. If we overconsume their ecologies, then we're in trouble - I'm very motivated to keep coffee a sustainable resource!

Gasoline is non-sustainable. So, I take the bus. I drink coffee instead.

@ El Machinae: That's what you would presume but unfortunately the cards are not stacked on a level table. There are subsidies which blur that rosy picture. So those ideas come tumbling down pretty quickly. Here's a specific example of what i am referring to:

EDIT: Section 5 of the article refers to coffee.

I am a caffenine addict but I hate coffee. Instead, I have like a ton of Snapple Iced Tea and Pepsi.

El_J: I hear you. Whoever gets up first on Saturday had damn well prepare the coffee, or there will be a growling bear tromping around the house.

El J, did you and Ram drink the same coffee when he was in "Southern NJ"?
 no. i'm afraid not. as a matter of fact, he never made it over to the 'other side of the river [Delaware River]'.

however, i did introduce him to the local delicacy known simply as 'the cheesesteak'. :D

It should be noted, El J, that I needed a coffee before I could actually begin talking properly. And that it was beer all the way thereafter!

 as you may recall, that was one of the first things i asked you upon arriving.

Today I had tooooo many espressos at work and now I'm typing words at about 50/min. :D

Indeed. The perfect host. :)

Strangely I find that I am not addicted to caffeine. Just the coffee, perhaps the taste, but it's not just the caffeine. If you gave me a caffeine tablet each morning I wouldn't be half as happy as with my 2 (big) cup cafetiere each day. And a cup of tea doesn't hit the mark in the same way.
