It was earlier mentioned that broad shoulders on guys were necessary/good.

How broad is broad? And how do you measure it?

I would think a measuring band was better myself, but I was more interested in where one measures. I have no idea how this is done when tailoring clothes, but I suppose one either measures the distance between the most external points on the shoulders, before the arm starts, or alternatively, that one measures the distance between two points on the upper side of the shoulders, maybe where the shoulder-bones end?
