Orostratia is in the same boat. We cannot cooperate with a Fortschritte affiliate.

Delta City is, as stated, an autonomous administrative unit that sets its own laws and policies. The selection of Prince Edward Island for Delta City was reached apolitically.

The Pacific Prosperity Pact will be an purely economic venture, aiming to ensure prosperity along the Pacific Rim. All members will loosen trade restrictions (up to 1.5 at the least, desirably 2.0). Admission of new members into the PPP will require a simple majority vote.

In addition, the Greater Korean Empire wishes to extend a defensive pact to all listed nations. To the Vishkanya Dominion, Korea extends an offer of a full alliance, in accordance with the centuries of friendly relations between our two nations. The Empire only requires that the Dominion refrain from allying with any of the Chinese powers. With three claimants to the Chinese throne, war is certain to erupt at some point in the future.

The Viskanya Dominion agrees in full to the terms proposed by the Korean Empire, and will refrain from interfering in the affairs of China.

Just to clarify, Fortschritte is only associated with Delta strictly in terms of business. While it is in our interest to protect our nationals within Delta, along as Delta itself as an economic asset, we are not going to enforce our laws on Delta, nor will we let our diplomatic ties or lack thereof chain Delta down. Delta is its own independent city, and the world should see it as such.

I disagree with corporations actually being able to purchase land from countries and establish countries. I feel that either you are a company or a country, not a corporation with all the benefits of a corporation and all the benefits of a country as well and none of the disadvantages.

You do realise Arya, that states can also take on the characteristics of a corporation through their national banks and also by the fact that if they really want too, they can nationalise the existing corporate assets in their nation to create a state run company much like Sones and AG's. If you don't like the fact Sone has his own city-state now, you can always go do that, although as always there's a cost-benefit analysis to be considered in the action.

Did I ever say that countries could not do that? No. In fact I was the one who first asked Tani about that. I simply do not believe Corporations should take on the characteristics of a city state/nation as it seems to be being done with Sone setting a tax rate and everything. Simply my opinion that corporations have enough income and potential power to be relevant on the world stage without becoming their own countries (even if legally contained within another national entity) as well.

Of course I didn't say you said that states couldn't do that, what I was saying is that your issue is nonsensical since the entire corporate/state paragigm goes both ways and is blurred. If you have a problem with corporations making deals with states to gain their own city-state tax havens (something that is a state action, since corporations cannot by themselves gain sovereign territory, a state has to agree to give it to them) you have the power to respond to that tit for tat, or by making your own corporation via the nationalisation of assets which benefits your interests and acts as a corporate proxy for your nation (think chinese state owned companies). Indeed the state has all the power here, with company power only existing inasmuch as states agree to give it to them (which they almost certainly will, since there is mutual benefit).

Ergo, there's nothing really for you to complain about.

Balancing is inevitable. If by some chance the corporate city-state became too rich it could always be reined in through embargo or invasion. No power is invincible, but especially a corporation, as without its customers it rapidly takes on the appearance of a can that has had the air sucked out of it.

ooc: I just presume free trade (since it is free) agreements automatically presume a 2, anything less is simply a reduction in tariffs and thus not technically free trade at all.
