Best Way To Defeat the Right?

But, well, to extend your analogy, Biden is *trying*, at least, but is constrained by the Swimming Pool Idiots. The other lifeguard isn't even trying. Yes, we drown either way, but I prefer the lifeguard that is at least *trying* to save us from drowning.

Not sure how hard he's trying, he made some promises to the American people that he'd be hope&change2.0 or whatever but to more important people he promised "nothing would fundamentally change".

I mean, I get that. Totally get that. But "the other lifeguard" in this analogy, isn't even pretending to save us from drowning. The other lifeguard is saying "drowning is a myth & ALSO we want more water!" So, between the two options, & we only have two options, I'm gonna go with the guy who says "we want to stop people drowning". At least he recognizes the problem.

That and didn't get the numbers being vulnerable to West Virginia old guy.

True. But what could he have done, honestly? To get more? It was a miracle he got 50-50. Evn counting that West Virginia old guy.

The Dem field sucked was the big problem. To many and no ideal candidate with a decent profile.

My take is that at least Biden, or whoever the Dems put up, at least *tries* to stop us from drowning. Just, even, well, accepts that we're drowning. The other side doesn't even grant that we're drowning. I prefer a side that accepts it's A Thing, & tries to do something, even if they fail, over a side that doesn't even accept that it's A Thing.

I'm not moaning @ others. I'm speaking to you.

And noone said the answers are easy but if you put half the effort you put into nitpicking other's posts as actually trying to answer OP's for yourself you might make a dent at least.
I asked you to clarify what you wanted me to focus on in my reply, because any reply on the subject can get very long.

Your response was to ignore my question and then, now, when pressed, mumble about how I'm "nitpicking". But sure, you do you. If you put half the effort into actually responding to genuine questions as you did accusing others of "nitpicking" or similar nonsense, we might actually make a discussion of this.

But, as usual, all I'm seeing is "the left are ineffectual" from people too lazy to bother reading and replying to posts properly. I was trying to give you an answer. But you've probably already convinced yourself I wasn't. C'est la vie.

To quote George Carlin... "This is the best we can do folks... this is what our system produces... garbage in... garbage out."

Vote or don't vote. Hoping for "better" candidates is pointless. The candidates are already "elite" Muricans... the richest, and/or best connected, and/or most charismatic, and/or best educated and/or most accomplished and/or most driven, ambitious people in the country. We can't do any better than the candidates we already get. If you think you can do better, run yourself. Otherwise, you have the choice to vote or don't vote.

Pretty much. Of course we have to be a bit more optimistic than Carlin otherwise we may as well kill ourselves.

No... we don't have to kill ourselves. Do not kill yourself Narz, I like talking to you. I like hearing what you have to say, especially when it is contrary to what I think.. We have to keep pushing for a better world.

Merry Christmas CFC. :xmastree:

Don't worry I got kids (well one and one in the oven), I'm not checking out (on purpose anyway). Just saying Carlin is a lil fatalistic (probably correctly but still).

life is good... unless you're living next to an erupting volcano or swimming with sharks

course a century from now people will pity us primitives

Or if you have a debilitating disease that is hard or impossible to treat; you are poor; your child died; your spouse died; a tornado wrecked your house; should I keep going?

And then there's the poor person who has all of those at once.

They should read the random rants thread and immediately cheer up!

YES!!! Keep going! Jeebus will replace your family and reward your faith! So sayeth Pharaoh, so let it be done. :please:

Most of the Civil Rights Era concessions were the result of non-centrists organizing non-centrists and making so much hell and disruption that the centrist was, time after time, forced to concede, until finally the centrists began throwing the secret police at organizers. Appealing to the moderate's underdeveloped morality works for the right (because the US is a right-wing country) but will always comes across as inauthentic when from the left.

The goal of any organizer is to shift the gestalt, not surrender to it. Surrender to the moderates is what killed Reconstruction in this country, killed any chance of a functioning, modern healthcare system, and is the number one thing holding back the abolition of chattel slavery in the American prison system.

I think this is vital.
Most politicians work within only what is currently "possible", some like Margaret Thatcher change everyones idea of what is possible.
