Biggest misunderstanding about you?

Personally, I've told various sectors of the Internet things that I'd never tell my parents or my RL friends.

I don't think there are any misunderstandings fundamentally about my character on these boards that I have a problem with. It gets annoying when people associate me with welshophile or anglophile-ness. But those assumptions are completely understandable given the username and given the fact that I was those things at one point in time. Other than that, I can't really think of any assumptions about my character that aren't totally justified (or so irrelevant as to not even really be worth mentioning).

Your just a drone plugged into the Dachs Hivemind. Oh and thats not a misunderstanding thats the truth :D

Sometimes people get the impression that my posts are worth the time it takes to read them. I've always found that odd.

On the subject of Mr B, I used to think he was mad but i think he is just quite a clever person and is trolling everybody in some way or another.

I don't know what people think of me. The only persistent identity trait I have on this board is that I'm Catholic.

..and you can get quite uppity and ragey on the history boards quite quickly. Which is a mixed trait because sometimes it's warrented and other times it's just a bit rude. :dunno:

I honestly cannot think of a reasonable misunderstanding about me. Maybe a few people have some assumptions about me which i can disclose as accurate or nonsense.

Yeah, to me it doesn't really matter whether I see you face to face or not. If I have regular interactions with you, I prefer to present a certain kind of image that I can, reasonably closely, control. If that's not possible for whatever reason, I prefer to limit those interactions.

To be honest, I think you're both a smart fellow and the resident Papist extremist.:D

I doubt I have a reputation here, since I'm relatively unknown, but in RL... I guess I tend to come off as utterly cold, mean, arrogant, bookish, and asexual, even though I'm not that cold or mean, I'm certainly not arrogant, I don't read nearly as often as I should, and I'm definitely not asexual.

My standard, neutral face looks to many like I'm frowning, and both angry and deep in thought. I'm usually not angry and I'm not always deep in thought. I'm considered a bit odd, cold, and perhaps intimidating, but at least I'm somewhat respected. Naturally, I'm a lot more jovial with my friends.

Also, at least a handful of people (mainly in Germany, but maybe some here) think I'm a Russian, or just some kind of non-American. I'm not actually Russian. Like, at all.

Thank you Phrossack.

I don't get "ragey". I am sometimes rude though, because reasons.

Also, for anyone who cares, I'm now a fiancé; my girlfriend and I have openly announced our engagement.

You used to be on my ignore list. Now I think you're quite a decent poster.

I knew it! (Or thought I did) But thanks for the change of heart. ;)

I actually have a serious answer for that, because identity and perception are something that I'm wrestling with right now. I'm not totally sure that the tone would fit the thread, though, and I'm extremely uncomfortable about admitting things like this to anybody in real life, let alone the internet.

This is interesting.

Aren't we all overwhelmingly concerned with identity and perception?

And don't people generally find it easier to express things anonymously than in real life? I mean what is at stake, here? Actually? Nothing, it seems to me.

I can be an intellectual if you want me to.
Go on then, I want you to. I couldn't be one to save my life.

That I'm a nice, tolerant, "acceptable" conservative. I'm really not. I get just as mean and y as my counterparts on the left, if not more so, and I don't have a lot of patience for some of the views they hold. Oh, I fervently believe in their right to hold those views and opinions, but I certainly don't have to respect them.

Yep, the days of winning friendliest person in my senior class are many decades behind me.

You're not getting compared to people on the left, you're getting compared to other conservatives. :p

I am not a phoenix.

Honestly, I don't know what people here think of me. I try to be polite as much as possible.

I can't imagine I've been here long enough to develop a reputation beyond that I have a habit of consulting computer game sites for major life decisions, which I suspect may be some sort of character flaw. Or perhaps its not because Cracked says that anonymous people in groups are often correct.

The 99 in your username makes me keep thinking you were born in 1999.
