BNP founder Tyndall dies aged 71

Mr Tyndall was a veteran of the far-right scene
British National Party founder John Tyndall, 71, has been found dead at his home in Hove, Sussex police have said.
A veteran of the right-wing fringe of British politics, Mr Tyndall chaired the National Front, leaving in 1980.

He was due to appear in court this Thursday in Leeds alongside BNP leader Nick Griffin on race hate charges.

Sussex Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Mr Tyndall's death which was reported at 0815 BST on Tuesday.

A spokesman for the BNP said Mr Tyndall had been expelled from the BNP twice but added he was an "excellent chap with a keen analytical mind".

"John was a great fellow who knew exactly what our movement was about but it is fair to say that he was not able to carry that forward to electoral success," the spokesman said.

Mr Tyndall founded the BNP in 1982 and was replaced by Mr Griffin in 1999.

Well, I wouldn't want to speak ill of the dead, so I will.

Yea, heard it on the news this morning. Dont really ahve any views on the matter either way.

He was expelled twice from the party he himself had founded?

Pay him some respect??? You are ****ing kidding me! If you'd seen that hidden camera documentary on the BNP last year you'd know what I was talking about. Would you have paid Hitler some respect when he died?

Moderator Action: No I wouldn't and I would certainly not post in a thread about his death then. "Pay some respect" is just a general phrase used in my country when someone has died - it certainly doesn't mean you have to like the guy or agree with him after his death.

If you can't use this thread to talk about the man's life and death in a non-bashing way, then do not post in this thread ! "I'm glad he has died" is considered bashing.

Sorry Rik, I am going with Zulu and Co. on this one.

If this was a Saddam or Mugabe has died thread, we would not be coming out and waxing lyrical about their great achievements and paying them 'respect'. This guy was a racist pig, who preached hatred, whose political logic culminated in a call to genocide and ethnic cleansing. The party which he founded has produced many more of the same. He failed to maintain cordial relations with his own party. It is a party that has no solid, realistic principles for governing the UK's economy, national assets and international reputation. Therefore he deserves no credit in my mind for his political actions. Further, the current leaders are about to get banged up for a long time for inciting race hate. They can deny none of these charges because all have been documented and aired on national television, direct from the mouth of these 'party members', and they shall be proved so in court.

Nothing there is deserving of respect. The guy was a pig and I'm glad to see the back of him. And before you wish to drop a tear at his grave allow me to **** in it first.

Honestly!!! How can you urge us NOT to highlight all this?

I'm happy to take whatever punishment for 'that'.

My mother told me to speak my mind, especially against injustice and lies.

Ram and others: You cant compare him to people like saddam, hitler, mugabe etc. As far as we know, he has never killed anyone. heres a difference between inciting rasism and commiting mass murder.
I dont agree with any of his views, and he deserved to be locked up and shunned as he was for most of his life since the 1970's.
Mods should probably keep an eye on this thread, trolling and bashing a plenty me thinks. :)
EDIT:

Err, when did he lie and when was there injustice then?

Channel 4 news showed a pic of him in Nazi uniform with a Nazi flag. Sums up the BNP well, the fascists! The world is better off without Hitler wannabes like him.

Rik, I agree with zulu and rambuchan:

this guy was (YAY!) an unrepentant Nazi, preaching hate and discrimination.

I'd dance in the street if Hitler died today, and the same is true for other bad people. Nobody is bashing here, just expressing the utter disgust this person had erant through his life.

Is it bashing if I call Saddam a mass murderer? Or does it become bashing if he dies and I still say it? Or if I express my wish that this monster dies? Or express my joy after he died?

Tyndall was not as bad as Saddam or Hitler, but his ideas were as bad. This is not a condolescence thread for his familiy, this is a deabte thread bearing the info that he died and, for those who do not know, who he was. And I feel it is my right to here express my delight for the removal of this scum from our European society.

I am dismayed by the hate-filled comments made in this thread and heartened at Rik's response to them.

People didn't bad mouth Nixon the day he died even though some considered him to be a criminal or worse and we should accord the BNP founder the same respect also.

This man probably has family that are grieving. If not for him let's at least be respectful for them.

Nixon did't want to expell all black people from America, nor was the republican party closely linked with terrorists.

Your moral values must be rather weird (in my perception) if you want to say Nixon is comparable to someone who denied the holocaust and preached racial superiority.....
