British couple sentenced to prison for kissing in public

I hope you took all the drugs first to cheer yourself up.

Nope, I don't take drugs. I threw them in the garden at a house where I had experienced some other bad moments.

For example, someone had broken in and stolen my mobile. They ran off without taking money or my expensive cameras because I had disturbed them with a big machette. Or, maybe they had strategically targetted my communications  That same night they tried breaking in again, and I had put solid furniture by the doors (phew!). I figured that if anyone came back to face a machete, they would be well armed

My landlord later offered to lend me a shotgun but that's illegal for foreign visitors, and I declined. Just another example of how travelers don't have it easy. Sorry, don't have much to say about the Dubai trial except that judges often decide an outcome before a hearing and that can be the same in any country.

Typical heteros, flaunting their sexuality. Didn't they know children were present?!?

That poor little girl will never recover. :shake: I bet she'll even grow up to be hetero herself.

You need to make a thread about your visit to South East Asia it sounds awesome.

Anyway I've been to Islam-land, just don't do anything ******** and you should be fine.

Hah thats a good line, definitely going to use it. Next time some friends make out in public I'm totally telling them off for being so flamboyantly heterosexual.

Imagine the horror she must have gone through - seeing a man with a woman, in public, talking to each other and... (:scared: ) kissing! Terrible! And what about her poor mother? How can she explain to her daughter now that men and women aren't supposed to do things like that, ever?!

Maybe it would be better if they were both stoned to death rather than to live with such a horrible memory...

Really, someone should push the button and be done with this whole region :bump:

Personally I would jail people for kissing in public anywhere. PDA (Public Displays of Affection) makes everyone uncomfortable. Maybe losing an arm or two would teach them a lesson.

I just read an interesting comment elsewhere: travelling to Arabia is like travelling in time. It roughly corresponds with the Middle Ages.

Next thing ya know, they'll be saying their lifestyle choice is normal.

It just goes to show how truly selfish these heteros are. Now that poor mother has to explain about sexuality to her young girl. She wasn't planning on doing that until she was older never, but now she has to. What about her rights as a parent????

Dude, I think the problem lies in one simple thing: no toilet paper. When you have to spend your entire life wiping with your hand... yeah, you're gonna be angry at life.

If that's the law then that's the law in my opinion, you should respect the places you visit.

This made fairly big headlines so these people should have realised this. I'm not too sure i believe their story about it being a peck on the cheek in a restaurant and they're not even dating.

I was performing anthropological research in SE Asia when someone put drugs in my backpack (I was flying from Palawan to Brunei).

Brunei enforces the death penalty for carrying drugs!! :vomit:

Just goes to show that there are some sick twisted arseholes around. At least I assume it was a sick twisted arsehole and not a secret gift from the aboriginal nomads I found. Either way, I was lucky to discover the substance and washed my pack to get rid of the scent before getting on the plane.
Wow... someone must hate you...

When in Rome. If the laws in Rome are insane, as they are here, then don't go to Rome. But you cannot just pick and choose. I think the ban on alcohol in Iran is depraved, but that's how they do things there, so I just don't go.

The laws in Dubai regarding PDA are insane, so don't go there.
