[BtS] "Extra"

Also, another question, it is compatible with 3.19 because of no dll file, right?

I've been messing around with an Extra game on 3.19, and so far no problems. Of course, I'm not that far into the game, but still no problems so far.
 
@avain: Yeah, I sometimes play with 10~12 civs or more.

@os79: Yeah it should be compatible with 3.19. Later today I will upload a new version, the first 'official' version of Extra for 3.19.

:confused: Are you doing more testing or are you uploading 3.19 today?:confused:
 
Uploading version 3.19a as we speak.. I'll look deeper into the issue for version 3.19b. But if you don't really care much about the swamps, you could just delete the "CvMapGeneratorUtil" file in Extra\Assets\Python.

It's just a minor update, really.. Mostly bug & balance fixes, as well as some other minor changes (like some unnecessary technologies removed).

To be precise, this is an update of the add-on Nostalgia, for the "Full" version of Extra, which means that it has some new content but no new leaders or civilizations.

Technology changes
- Cartography, Navigation and Counterweight Engineering have been removed.

Civic changes
- The 'weird' civic Legalism and has been replaced with tsentom's Suzerainty.
- The equally 'weird' civic Mohism has been replaced with the special civic Fundamentalism.
- To make the Pyramids less overpowered, Technocracy has been removed and replaced with tsentom's Oligarchy.
- The effects of the "Professional Army" civic have been changed as well.

Wonder changes
- The Torii and Magellan's Expedition now go obsolete later.
- The Tower of Babel's espionage bonus halved to prevent anyone from getting a shitload of espionage points in the first half of the game.
- King Richard's Crusade now available with Theology instead of Chivalry.

Unit changes
- On earlier request, the Fanatic unit from Civ2 has been added. It requires the new civic Fundamentalism in order to be constructed. There's an upgrade available with the technology Radio, so Fundamentalism might become interesting again in the modern era. Similar to the clone units, the promotion Kamikaze is available to the fanatics (sacrificed in combat in exchange for +25% strength).
- The Falconer unit. It can't really attack, but it's an interesting alternative to a scout. Inspired by the bird in FfH: Age of Ice, but works in a different fashion. Try it out and see.

Other
- Avain's Terraforming modcomp has been implemented (but slightly altered). Once I'm going to alter the Future Era significantly, these features will be moved to a more fitting technology like "Terraforming". But at least they're already in the game now :).





PS: I also updated the first page, so one can easily see what the features of the "core" Extra are, and which features are added in the full version of Extra.
 
Quick feedback: my maps/scenarios seem to work OK. (Good news, as I may edit them and/or add more.);)
 
Jeelen : can you create an ancient set of civs ?

I would like, 200ish BC, 18 civs on habitual Huge Earth....
 
I've got to make a probably complete n00b question here;

When i have installed the MOD and try to play it the same problem always happens (with all other MODs too!)

When i have selected the game and start it there are no icons, minimap, action menu or any info on the city info screen.

what can I do about this?

It seems like I needed something as exotic as an "update"...

Theres some leaders from Colonization I saw Avain using for his leader expansion for the Aztecs, Incans and Mayans, I think they could use afew new leaders(Smoke Jaguar and Pachuati for the Mayans and Incans were in Civ3 conquests fyi) Theres also a female Aztec leader :)
 
Possible mess-up. Your decision.

I was looking thru your units in civipedia and *shudder* I found that your melee units upgrade to rifleman. I think you should upgrade melee units (pikeman, maceman, and heavy swordsman) to musketman.

In the meantime, can someone give me the lines in unitinfo.xml to modify so I can upgrade these units to musketman (or musketeer, if it is French)?

Never mind, I found how to modify the upgrade path.
 
That's the standard game for you, where only a couple of units upgrade to Musketman and almost all upgrade to Rifleman.
 
Um? It was that way in Vanilla? All units upgrade to the modern eras, even if it doesn't make sense, like a spearman upgrading into a mechanized infantry. :)

Are you saying it makes no sense, because I agree, but that's not the point oh Shuddering one.

Well, I have unitinfo modded to have good upgrade paths.
Though I don't know how to modify in the costs. i will figure that out later on.

If anyone want my unitinfo.xml for this Extra mod, ask :). It's not perfect, not even close to Zappara's standard but it is DEFINITELY better than vanilla BtS!
 
Installed the Extra 3.17 version, assuming it works with BTS 3.17, but I can't get it to work at all. Am I making a wrong conclusion based on the version numbers being the same? If not 3.17, what patch does it work with?

I was very impressed by this mod, especially all the civ specific graphics and the added civilizations and leaders. Which brings me to my question: unfortunately my computer can't really handle this mod late game, so I wonder if there's a mod that only includes a lot of extra civs and leaders, since that is what I am most interested in. I've been looking but to no avail.
