Bully Pays the Price When Victim Fights Back

Aegis is correct Mise. If you put up token resistance chances are the bullies will move on to another target since deep down, they are cowards.

You're right, it's less Power Rangers and more Saved By The Bell now. They're really just lonely cowards who long for your friendship but don't know how to make friends so they bully people to get your attention! Nothing a quick jab in the eye can't fix.

Cowards? I thought they are simply sadists to say it even better.

To me it does not really matter how the bully felt. He got a broken leg, well he should have stayed out of trying to intimidate someone who is twice his size.
That said, life of kids in school usually is quite problematic. I am not sure what would have happened if i had acted on my urges against a bully, since my own wish went far beyond merely breaking his leg :)

Oh, like wearing a trench coat and have a lot of guns in your backpack feeling?

I once wrote a short story with this topic, namely placing myself back in school and presenting some critical alternate development in regards to how i reacted towards a bully :)
Although the story takes place immediately before the plan of action is to be carried out, it involved removing one of his eyes using a sharp object.
Of course this was sensationalized so as to be apt for short story material. In reality i did have very violent urges towards one bully back in the beginning of highschool, and they involved either his utter annihilation, or a punishment which would remain with him for life...

Sadly nothing at all happened, and he left school a year later, probably due to the school being for rich kids and him being the worst student in class.

Because all of that is anywhere near comparable to simply sticking your thumb in their eye.

In middle school, I was 95 lbs (40 kg) at most. As a Senior in High School, I was 119 lbs (54 kg) and around 5'6". Even though I was smaller than you, I still managed to stop bullies from picking fights with me because I had the balls to stand up for myself and fight back.

Fighting is not just about strength, but also about smarts and speed. Sure, you are going to be weaker than other people due to your size, but you're likely going to be quicker and lighter on your feet - so you can use that to your advantage.

I should add that there's a also a fear part of fighting. Kids know that you can't do some things to someone because it could lead to a "serious" injury. A person lacking that hesitation, known for fighting ferociously and dirty such popping fingers into people's eyes and doing all manners of tricks, isn't somebody they'll wanna mess with.

If a 12 year old (assuming that this is true) feels good enough to attack someone 4 years older and who is much bigger, he obviously doesn't fear any retaliation from him. It's a sort of mental warfare.

It was my experience that the bullies usually were among the worst students.

That's why the only career path open to them is becoming a policeman.

I was bullied in grade 7. It got to me so much that at one point I stood up in the middle of the class and started pounding on my bully.

Which didn't do anything, cause I was weak, and he was HUGE. I got beaten up after class for it by him and a bunch of his friends, but I don't remember them picking on me ever again.

After my grade 7 experiences I started working out. Anyway.. bullies suck..

If the bully punched first, its self-defense. Anything goes at that point. I don't care if the bully is crippled for life, absolutely no punishment. Self-defense is self-defense. Don't start fights.

If the bullied kid hit first under verbal provocation, I MIGHT still punish him but it depends on case.

And bullying is definitely bad and needs to be punished more severely.

You're not going to go on about public hanging again are you?

I am beginning to wonder maybe the short skinny kid either grossly underestimated the willingness of the fat kid to fight back, or possibly he was tricked by other kids to have him challenge the fat kid and thought he could win.

Note: there were a kid filming it.

It is not uncommon that there are clever kids out there that can use other gullible kids to fight other kids.

is there anything a quick jab in the eye can't fix?

Well, the 12 vs. 16 disparity, plus the broken leg, kinda change my opinion on this whole thing.

I read somewhere on reddit that teh bully was 15.

15 sounds more likely; what 16 year old is ever bullied by a 12 year old?

The bully may have had his ankle broken, but too friggin bad. Don't go punching people in the face then continue to antagonize them afterward. The kid let the punch in the face go, then after repeated antagonizing put an end to it. He actually turned the other cheek, in a manner of speaking, but a person only has so many cheeks before his fists are the next to turn.

If the kid was only verbally assaulted, and didn't get punched in the face and then antagonizingly in his torso, I might think different about the bully getting his ankle broken. But once you put your hands on someone in anger or in a threatening manner, especially a strike like a punch to the face, all bets are off.

BOOM! Headshot!

ROFL, That is awesome! Wallpapered!

When I was bullied, I learned very quickly to never hit their faces. Teachers always punished based on blood from the face, and even if I dominated the fight, I made sure to only punish the belly.

Based on that advice, I'm telling my kids to punish the groins of any bullies.

IHe could have done far more damage had he beaten his face to a pulp, or kicked the crap out of him while he was lying there on the ground, but he chose not to and de-escalated the situation by walking away.

A concussion is generally more damaging than having your face beaten to a pulp.

I beat the crap out of the only bully I ever had. Works for 99.999% of people, you just appear to the be 0.001%.

Yeah, that's why there's almost no bullying.

I was probably involved in 5 straight up 1v1 fights.

I would not let my kids go to a school where that was happening.
