C3MT - Civ3MultiTool (Second CFC Thread) 2016-10-05

btw it would be nice if someone updated the OP with the new upload, my post's gonna get buried sooner or later.

I just downloaded again, I've got a new computer running windows 7 and although it worked fine on my other computer (windows xp) it wont work on mine current one..

Everytime I try to change the money for a civilization it gives me this error message
"Error: Type mismatch (13) in c3mt @ frmSaveEdit.frm line 3710"

Any help getting the multi tool to working order would be appreciated. Thanks.

You're getting problems with everything you download, apparently.

no i haven't tried compatibility mode. how would I do that?
and takhisis, I know. I really dont know whats going on but it's driving me crazy.

I think (Not sure in W7) you right click, properties, then tell it to run the prog as XP. Save then run. MIGHT cure the problem then again it might not.

Huh. Not sure, but I think when you format a W7 disk you have to set up an XP partition.

So, I've dusted off my old source code, fixed some bugs and built a new version of this tool. It's been almost five years, but things haven't changed that much, since I've not been developing actively.

1.12.6
- Fixed incorrect length calculation while loading floats from memory. (Caused Air Defence of units not to be copied by the CopyTool)
- Fixed a problem where the unit organizer scrolling would be to short after copying units.
- Fix error in rules organizer when trying to move a unit down at the end of the list.
- Fix errors with moving a unit with the "To Gap" function in the unit organizer.
- Rules Organizer can now be used to organize technologies.
- The CopyTool no longer resets selections after a copy
- Improved error handling when Civ3 is not installed.
- Fixed an issue where selected tab in the save game editor could not be changed after having a validation error reported for some value.
- Fixed a type mismatch error when selecting a civilization in the save game editor.
- The version check system has been rebuilt to not depend on civ3files.apolyton.net. (Sorry I din't do this before the old version check system stopped working.)

Hi Gramphos, it´s great that you are still around in Civ 3, so I can say you directly a big thank you very much for all your work with Civ 3. :):thanx:

Gramphos, cheers to you for this update! I really appreciate you taking the time for all the people who still play civ3

I remember from back in the day, I tried to use this on a large map with the maximum 32 civs. I believe I was trying to create a scenario from a saved game. If I recall correctly, the problem was that ownership of cities, units etc would all be shuffled along to another civilization when opening in the scenario editor. I wonder if this makes any sense in light of your recent bugfixing, is this something that would also be fixed? Just thought I should mention it ~

I don't think I've seen a report of something like that before. Now that I have a working development environment again I might be able to fix some more bugs that are reported. Especially bugs which have clear how to reproduce instructions, preferable with an included save file that can be loaded to reproduce the error.

@Gramphos I understand, and I am not planning anything with Civ3 right now, so no worries... I just tracked down my original post in this thread, from six years ago no less!

Firstly, awesome utility, im very sad that ive only discovered it now :(

Secondly... I dont want to be ungrateful, but have a problem, i dont know if its already been posted or if this thread is dead or what, but here goes...

I have learned to work around most of the crash bugs, but theres one thing i cant fix... I really want to create scenarios from save games for a project im working on, using fixed player-civ settings. I can export a conquests game to a scenario OK, so long as i dont include the rules or player data (i can import those in the editor from another scenario file). But when i open in the editor, i see that all the players have been mixed around...

What i mean is that all player 1's cities, units etc, are now under the control of player 2. All player 2's stuff is given to player 3, and so on. This would be OK, except i want to use specific player-civ combinations. I get the city of rome as captiol of egypt, thebes as capitol of greece etc. And player 1 is left in control of nothing, but all its former cities and units are under the control of player 2. Things can be repaired somewhat by re-assinging the civs in the player settings. But anything that originally belonged to the last player in the list seems to be totally lost from the map.

With 31 players, there seems to be a crash bug, where one of the players probably gets assigned a civ that doesnt exist, or possibly becomes the 'barbarian' civ. The editor will crash whenver any of their units or cities comes into view.

Gramphos is back. Yyyyyesss!!!! What can we do but celebrate? :w00t:

The C3MT updated????

How many chickens shall I sacrifice to thee, oh great Gramphos? :worship:

Chickens? I say we pay him in Perfectly Normal Beast sandwiches.
