Hey,

Recently I purchased the jewel case version of the old game Capitalism 2. I'm enjoying the level of detail and am having a good time so far but I just can't manage to get good at it.

I build department stores, dominate the market with the products I sell and yet the store loses money. I look at the charts and those products are selling for profit but I can never get the profit of the individual stores into the black.

What am I doing wrong?

Also some other questions - the manual talks about researching technology and then applying that technology to the product in your factories - however I can't find any button to do this. It appears as if the technology of the product automatically upgrades itself after the R&D project completes. Is the manual wrong?

Please help a socialist succeed in Capitalism. :)

Ok.. I'm finally able to make some sense of the balance sheets etc for each firm and evaluate the expenses, revenues etc. I'm finally making a profit.

However one thing I can't figure out - Why can't certain cities import from certain other cities? Like from the seaports.

ie: I have engines at the port in New york... but for some reason my factory in Kingston can't "see" the products in the new york port. (Even after choosing "all cities" from the dropdown list)

God I remember playing that game. It should come with a free MBA in every box...

Ok I answered my own question about the seaports. Apparently you can't import from a port in ANOTHER city - only from other suppliers in another city. Fair enough.

I figure I've earned my MBA by now as well. It's quite an amusing game I must admit. Kinda like railrood tycoon only more complicated and without the damn trains. lol

Capitalism 2 is great. :goodjob:

Yes you can. You just have to build a small factory and use that as a warehouse to transport goods to the other city.

Btw, I think I know the quickest way to become a billionaire in that game. Want to learn it? Ok: build a logging camp, a factory and a furniture store in each city, and start producing beds. Only them and nothing else. There's some kind of a flaw in the game which causes the demand for beds to be ridiculously high. :crazyeye:

Another one is to start the game in 1990 and immediately research new products. Once you start manufacturing them, you almost instantly gain 100% market share and can put the price extremely high.

Probably you cannot import products because the factory had chosen "Internal Sale"... it means the product can only be sell in this specific city - and I think only for the Corporation that produces it (I'm not sure)... that's why sometimes you lose the supplier; it didn't stop work - only stopped to sell to the others... if you manufacture something and choose "Internal Sale", you can't buy this product in other cities, even if YOU are selling...

sorry about the bad english; hope I had help you...
