Can you identify what these world maps represent?

Steph's map is easy! It's the locations he's either been to, or it's the locations his company does business. He's posted that map in the past. The blue dots either represent offices for his company, or the airline companies that have bought his company's software.
Woaw then. Steph should be rich. His empire is nearly as big as Ikea's.

Steph? Do you need to hire anyone? I'm hard-working and ready to move to South West France immediately. :)

Why would the airline not fly to the UK, USA or Canada? Or all those other places in Europe for that matter.

Really? Sorry then. :(

I thought you all started getting bored about this... that's why I ended the game. Well sorry then. I have another one for later... but firstly we need to unveil the mystery about Steph's map. :)

How about like, body parts, and we guess which poster they belong to.

We can do this on a personal forum I'll set up later.

You mean the boobs, ass, or shoulder cleavage game? Sounds like fun.

EDIT: Wait, no, I just remembered the gender ratio on this site... Oh well.

Phelgmak found most of it, with the help of others.

My company is making software for aeronautics, and I'm the product manager for the aeronautical procedure design software. It's not for the airlines, but for the civil aviation authorities.

The red countries have aeronautical procedures designed with my software. Orange countries are on going project.

(grey countries are future customers ;) ).

The blue dot represente the offices where the software is installed (like in Dakar, they make the procedures for 15 African countries).

Why so many French speaking in Africa, but no Canada? Why so many blue dots in France, and one lost in some random place in China?
Many French speaking countries in Africa, because ASECNA (the air safety agency that manage 15 countries) have been set up by France (one of the best exemple of succesfull decolonization by the way), and so we hav strong links with them. Same for North Africa.
Canada host two competitors, and is influence by the US reguation (which is specific).
The lost dot in China is a cooperation project done via the Midi Pyrénées region which is twinned with Sichuan.

@Mise : I did build the map myself, using the Geographical Information System used a midleware for my software.

@Marla: send me a CV with a picture of you in bikini (I'm joking, the bikini is not mandatory), so I can answer we can't hire you, but we'll keep your reference for later. Unless you are a very good sale agent, then that could interest us. We don't hire much as we have highly specialized and skilled people, and it's not easy to find someone able to work with us.

I can only give two hints. First, this is the most important map of all. Second, look around a bit for the other clue.

Is the other clue "top 4.5 percentile?"

You are exactly on the right track. Man, this Steph is a bright guy, isn't he? Now let's see if you can put 2 and 2 together, and guess what that map is about.

It's not income inequality, nor international inequality...

What I wonder is why Caspianseeland and Greatlakia are leading countries

It's strange to have Bhutan or Venezuela and Malaisya in the same league as the Scandinavian countries, Austria and Switzerland

There you go, being logical. Think back to the game that (most likely) originally brought you here.

You're still thinking too logically. The reason I'm feeding you all these hints is because the matter (while seemingly official) is arguably subjective/debatable. But I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. As for Civ3, not the game itself... within the gameplay. An important element.

Governments? I can't help but notice that Afghanistan, Iraq and North Korea are all grey. As is Somalia (?) and, uh, Greenland.

I think the other two greys are the Ivory Coast and Liberia.

Edit: could it be GDP?

Contentment?

Is it related to happy faces? Pollution?

Oh-hoHO!

Spoiler THE ANSWER :
I guess I'll have to take that. :goodjob: Anyway, I was scouring the 'net looking for an obscure map that might stump you guys, and I happened to stumble upon some 'gross national happiness index' maps. :D

Anyway, here's the one above, unedited:
