Capto Iugulum

Which means you plan to declare war on the Confederation. They are invading Monarchist Spain, thus you have no other choice. He is requesting that you do it in the open and not after the deadline or in a sneak attack like a child.

TLK: Indeed, this is precisely what I am requesting. Could you please either declare war this turn and attack me this turn, or declare war next turn and attack me next turn, or not declare war and not attack me, at least not outright and concertedly? I would much like it if you didn't try to have your cake and eat it.

To: The World
From: Sardinia

Despite our recent entrance into the Rhine-Rhone Pact and the decision of several nations to intervene in the Spanish Civil War, Sardinia has no intention of involving itself in the conflict. We continue to recognize the Republican government as the rightful government of Spain, and despite any conflict in the Mediterranean, Sardinian trade will continue, and we expet that as neutral vessels our merchant ships will not be molested.

From: Italy

We promise no hostilities will occur between our nations started by Italy. We respect and will honor your decisions and choice of neutrality and will rightfully avoid any conflict with your nation.

To: Florida, Jacksonia, Aztlan
From: Vinland

In case it has not been entirely clear in our past diplomatic statements, Vinland recognizes the full and legal autonomy of your three nations, and we encourage our friends in the Second Union to explicitly state this at well.

To: Vinland
From: Peru

We thank you.
Would Vinland be willing to guarantee their independence, and that of Denver if they agree to and win a free and fair plebiscite, as your forces have guaranteed Washington in this instance (and also backed their demands)? In return Peru and perhaps other Concord members would be willing to guarantee Washington's territory as well, if Washington wants any guarantees from us.

To: Peru
From: Vinland

What specifically do you mean by a guarantee of independence, in this specific case? While we believe in the legitimacy of their independence, we do not wish to become dragged into wars in case some other power decides that they do not recognize the independence of Florida, Aztlan or Jacksonia.

To: Vinland
From: Peru

Specifically, we are worried Washington may renege on their recognition of these polities and Denver at a later stage. We ask that Vinland be willing to defend these nations if Washington should choose to attack them without provocation.

OOC: Oh you guys. :p

TO: Vinland
FROM: Appalachia, Mississippi, Tennessee Proletarist Republics

We similarly petition for recognition, along similar terms to the Jacksonia, Aztlan, and Florida republics.

A Letter From Robert Wallace to The World

To Whom It May Concern

It has become obvious that over the last couple weeks that the open wounds in the former United States must be mended. The negros in open rebellion are a thousand times greater threat to the American nation then the liberal government of the Second Union. The American nation was founded on principals that it has drifted away from over the last eighty years. If the American Republic is to survive, it must come through negotiation and compromise instead of combat. Though my administration has had it's disagreements with the Washington government in how the future should be shaped for the Union, I have come to a realization that the future for America lies with democracy. The Scott Era is dead, and it is time to move forward.

From this point on, the Denver Government recognizes the legitimacy of the Washington government to rule over the entirety of the former United States, and shall support it in it's current fight against the negro proletarian. We formally recognize ourselves solely as the Allied Territories of America. Officials from my administration are currently meeting with diplomats from the United States to discuss a timetable for a peaceful and gradual integration. The Allied Territories also completely withdraws from the Treaty of Jefferson, and consequently the Pacific Concord.

General Robert Wallace of the Allied Territories of America

To: Vinland
From: Jacksonia

We thank Vinland for recognizing our independence, and wish for friendly relations for the future.

To: The Denver and Washington Governments
From: Jacksonia

Let it be known that all we care for is to retain our independence. Protect this, and you have a friend in Jacksonia.

To: Jacksonia
From: Denver government

We know longer hold any official position regarding your independence, it is the sole authority of the Washington government which we now pledge ourselves to defend and maintain until such a time that we are integrated within it.

@EQ: Was Libya actually worth a whole 10EP? That seems pretty excessive, considering the actually populated parts of Spanish North Africa are in Algeria and Morocco.

I'm confused about the deadline. Is it September 18th, as the Front Page says, or sometime on the 16th, as EQ's signature says?

It's only giving me 5 EP and 0 MP, where did you get the 10 from?

I've lost 10EP from North Africa, its gone from 20EP per turn to 10. Thus, apparently Libya was worth half of North Africa's income.
