Capto Iugulum

The Royal Cartographical Society presents, ahead of its grand project to map The Worlde At Large, Europe c. 1914:

Claiming the Allied Territories of America.

Shadowbound's already taken the ATA.

OOC: Crezth, you've taken a sort of pickaxe to my border. I control Turin, and distinctly more of Wurttemberg, and every last pixel of the west bank at the Dutch border. :[

Similar-ish situation. Ingria extends further west along the Gulf of Finland than that. But I find that kind of hard to criticize considering how purty that map is.

OOC: Blame the ugliness and inaccuracy of the current borders. Nevertheless, noted.

@spryllino: Gamez gets ATA because Shadowbound never sent orders. I offered it to him.

I am very glad to see the map getting a facelift, I'd do it myself, but I'm lazy enough just putting off doing Capto Igulum's updates. I can't overextend myself to putting off doing the map as well. Kurdistan has bothered me for a while, and I'm quite disappointed they haven't been destroyed yet. It and Serbia both look at least somewhat better with crezth's map though.

Crezths map is good, but it needs a bit of work, afterall the papal states lands are somewhat underestimated, the same with Switzerland in the map.

Also I believe the papal states (and Rome) is further south than the new maps current location of papal territory. A point of reference for the lands I should supposedly have is the district of Lazio in modern italy (perhaps with a bit of southern Tuscany and the island of Elba)

If only the JarJar Binks Adventures were out already so we could watch that while we wait for the update...

OOC: Any players got any idea wich nation is the most advanced technologically? I can't tell since the education budgets are based on population and the recommended level is met by almost all states.

My closest guess would be it's one of the top economies in the world (but not Russia, Scandinavia, Japan, Brazil, Argentina due to the first not meeting the recommended level, the second being politically isolated, and the latter three being geographically isolated to the larger scientific communities of Europe) so it'd probably be the United Kingdom, Germany, The Confederation, Spain, Italy or the Netherlands. Maybe Italy because of its medical achievements and its involvement in the previous tech-sharing?

By the by, here's a list of combined governmental net income of the globe and geopolitical regions, colonies are counted by their geographic location if listed, otherwise any territory follows the listing of their motherland in the stats.

Global: 7237 EPs

Europe: 3887 (including non-European Russia and Rome) --- 53.7% of Global
Africa: 284 EPs (70% held by Europe, ca. 17% held by local Europeans, ca 13% led by South America) --- 3.9% of Global
Western Asia: 415 EPs --- 5.7% of Global
Far East: 1065 EPs (about thirty percent held by Europe, 10% led by Europe, 3.5% led by Africa-based Europeans) --- 14.7% of Global

North America: 579 EPs (including Aisuyochi (5) and Prince Edwards Island (2)) --- 8% of Global
Central America & the Carribean: 228 EPs (including British West Indies (6)) --- 3.2% of Global
South America: 779 EPs --- 10.8% of Global
...
European Economic Control of Globe (including Kongo): ca. 61.6% (DIRECT), 2% (INDIRECT)

OOC: I'd be very surprised if the United Kingdom didn't have the best education system in the world right now, although I'm obviously biased so that probably doesn't help you much.

I don't want to pull my own chain, but we're kind of gosh darn amazing in the technological field. Argentina and Brazil pumped out modern radio and automobiles first.

Vinland has consistently emphasized funding in education, though we have done precious little in government-funded technological developments.

OOC: The Papal States spends a lot on education relative to its size. Still my main concern is on safeguarding Catholic Orthodoxy and Orthopraxis.

We spent 1.5 times the price on our education for a good 13 years. I think Brittany had the best education.

I'm not sure if more money necessarily translates into a good education system. It can help, no doubt, but I would think at some point a bureaucrat would realize that almost a third could be "spent wisely" expanding and "rewarding" administration positions.

Sorry for the continuing delays, but I have some other stuff interrupting my real life mojo at the moment. I'd rather not infuse the thread with pessimism, so just be warned, while I'm looking to see the update completed Tuesday or Wednesday, it may not happen. Hopefully, unless things enter the worst case scenario, the update will be done this week. If things do enter the worst case scenario, then frankly, I'll have bigger problems than keeping this NES updated. Now, I'm often asked what could be done to help in these situations, so I've prepared a short list:

1. Disable any individuals in the United States still employed and were born between the years 1944-1955. Dead or alive, all that matters is that they're out of the work force. Similarly, I'd also accept disabling any individuals born between the years 1992-1996. Remember, it only counts if they are never able to work again.

2. Pray fervently for things to work out. I'll accept any religious well wishes, and have already covered voodoo and Christianity on my end. Catholics need not apply.

3. Send me money.
