Similar here. But my cat doesn't like being on laps, carried, or on shoulders unless we are moving. The cat does like being on the upper shelf of my computer desk, though, so that he can get attention and playtime while I'm on here.I used to be a dog person. But then I was given a kitten...
The rest is history. Right now my current cats are snoozing on my bed. At some point the younger of the two will get up and crawl into my lap and up on my shoulder. To properly balance will require me to hold her with my left hand/arm, thus leaving me one hand for typing.
I bet you didn't know that I do a lot of my CFC posts one-handed.![]()
If I wanted a moving piece of furniture I would have bought a Roomba.I know a lot of people think cats are too aloof or distant, so I guess I'm just not so needy that I need an animal to make me feel validated.![]()
Sure, why not? This thread needs more wiener dogs!
Cat. You can't control the cat.
Cats for me. I like dogs too, I just happened to grow up with cats. I know a lot of people think cats are too aloof or distant, so I guess I'm just not so needy that I need an animal to make me feel validated.![]()
How ridiculous. Cats engage emotionally with their owner, it's just more subtle. I don't need a creature slobbering all over me to feel loved. A gentle rubbing on my leg & looking up at me with squinty little eyes is enough for me.I guess I'm comfortable enough with myself that I can cope with the emotional engagement one gets from a dog.
Adults have grown up enough to deal with responsive and pleasant creatures. Only children love soft toys that don't actually engage with them.
Pit bulls are one of the best breeds (along with labs).I just want to say even though I prefer most dogs over cats, I hate attack dogs. And don't tell me it's the way the dogs are raised. Pit bulls are menace to society. Read this article if you don't believe me.

Dachsunds are frequently insane. I had a coworker whose wife had a dachsund. If they forgot to close the bedroom door before leaving the house, the dachsund would eat the pillows. This thread needs more wiener dogs!

Another advantage with cats: You know all those hard to get to nooks and crannies that you have a hard time dusting? Well worry about them no more, because the kitty can take care of that. (Okay, maybe that isn't an advantage...)

A cat that doesn't jump & climb? I can't even imagine it.
It is totally u to the owner on how they are raised up. Even the most gentle breed can become vicious if they are not treated properly.
