That's cool, but actually I'd go even further and make it so that even people who get eliminated can't vote again until sudden death. Cos like, at the moment, say I'm having an epic battle with Takh: we have a tit-for-tat that both leaves us reeling on 4 points each. We call a truce at that stage, and stop voting each other down; meanwhile, our allies vote us up a bit, so that now he's on 10 and I'm on 8. At this point, Takhisis sees that he has the upper hand over me, and can eliminate me in another 4-round tit-for-tat. So he stabs me in the back, and I get eliminated while he's on 4 points. Takhisis declares victory! And I accept defeat.
But actually, that's not such a big deal, and really not a victory at all for Takhisis, because I can still vote him down even when I'm dead. So he dies after 2 days anyway. And actually, you have much more free reign to vote people down when you're dead than when you're alive, because there's no way of retaliating against a dead person. For a geographical-based game it's not even an issue, but for a person-based game it would be nice if we could have individual battles where you can actually win and lose, rather than just lose a few days earlier than the other guy.
I guess disallowing dead players from voting might make the mid-game go too slowly, though. I don't know what other people think. Other ideas might be to make it so that dead people can only vote down OR up but not both. Or their downvotes are only worth 1 point rather than 2. Or they can only vote once every 3 days instead of once per day. Or any/all combinations of those things. What do you guys think?
