Just got back from a 10K. I'm staying consistent from last year with about a 10:00 pace--my time was 55:53. My marathon time last September was about 4 hrs 42 minutes.
What races are you running? What are your best times?
I can run 1km in about 20 minutes. More accurately, I can run short distances of about 50-100 mters in between long periods of walking and rests for a total of 1km in about 20 minutes.
Ah, was waiting for this thread! I used to run fairly seriously back in the day - ran the marathon for the Army in the inter-services; back then I'd aim to do a mile in 6:30 which gave an overall time of not far over 2 hours 45 minutes; unfortunately not good enough for the GB selectors with their pool of 'gentleman amateurs'! I still get up to London occasionally running for the ABF but I'm reduced to aiming for eight minutes to the mile which means coming in at 3 and a half hours. If shorter distances count I was quite proud that once I was running seriously I could do the Battle Fitness Test - a 1.5 mile run in an age before the rest of the army thought it was worth doing - in seven and a half minutes, but I struggle to do that in nine now. Love running, me, keeps me sane. Honest.
My best 10k was 34:20, but that was 80-90 pounds and over 20 years ago.
Yeah, I meant that my racing weight was around 140 pounds, but now I weigh about 225. I recently found a picture of me in a college race on my 21st birthday. A lot skinnier than I remembered (6 foot even height).
I'm not well accustomed to distance running. My feet are extremely flat, and large to boot. Many times after running a few miles even with prescribed orthotics my feet/ankles will start to act up.
That said, my best mile time ever was 6:03 when I was a Freshman in High School on the soccer team. Nowadays I could probably match that time or maybe go a few seconds over but I haven't timed myself in a mile for quite some time.
