This unit is based off the Thai movie Suriyothai.
The Chaa Saaen (ราชา แสนย์ ) means royal infantry in Thai, unlike most of the armies of South East Asia, Chaa Saaen have expensive armor from Portugal. So they are more protected than most infantry.

Thank you to: Sword of Geddon for helping with the PAL file, and CamJH for the animations.

This is great! When the Southeast Asian Spearman is out I'll have a complete spear line for South East Asia civs in my mod. :D

Thanks for doing it. It's a wonderfull unit. :goodjob:

This is a superb unit!

What characteristics make the armor Portuguese?

Except the helmet, all of it is Portuguese. The breastplate, shoulder pads, and thigh covers are all European. I thought it was strange that Thai armor looked so European.
But in Suriyothai there is a quote that makes it all make sense. Suriyothai says they need to buy more guns and armor from the Portuguese.

Portuguese armor also influences Japanese nanban armor.

Thank you Shiro - I like this unit very well!

Just as proposal without obligation: :crazyeye:
- since this guy is wearing also a sword on his back, it would be amazing
seeing him using it (attack2 animation?)
- Since most of the guys' arming is Portuguese, are you planning to generate
a Portuguese (colonial) soldier by changing some elements like the helmet?

it would be too hard to make attack B use his sword, because he would have to put his spear down, then pull his sword and attack. And then I would have to change the victory, and death animation. But I do have an idea for a Thai swordsman.

At the moment I have no plan to make a Portuguese unit. sorry ^ ^;;
But you did remind me to make my Angola UU, that is a Kongonese warrior in Portuguese armor.

Great unit for an underrepresented area of the globe!

Wow, definately one of my favorites of yours. :goodjob:
