Change ur dang avatars

Clever, but not accurate. It is just another tax, this time on excessive spending on propaganda. It is like a tax on cigarettes. In NM if you buy a full page newspaper ad supporting some candidate, the paper will charge you 7.5% tax on the price of that ad. My tax would happen at the moment you donated or spent to support a campaign or party. State and local taxes that followed later would be additional. Like taxing cigarettes, my goal is to make folks think twice about how they spend their money and reduce the "money is speech" effect of citizen's united.
be interesting to think about how this would interact with aggregators like Act Blue

If I had my way I would categorize all private political donations as bribery.

Yes, but the Republicans who don't actually want a republic (is your Spanish any good?) will reply to your point with what I posted.

What about Faux News, who didn't actually (as far as we know) give any money, just a lot of coverage)?

Interesting. I've not heard of them before. If I read their website right, they appear to help other groups raise money effectively. If I were imposing a tax on donations, then I would tax those over $1000 from individuals. The tax burden would lie on the donor/spender. I would apply the tax to all money spent or donated (over $1000). That would include PACs and non profits supporting those running for elected office. Those tax collections could be used for any number of things:
  • Federal funding of elections
  • Services to enhance voter turnout
  • Updating election security
  • etc.

after a special someone asked me if that was me in the profile pic I decided it was time to let Mr. Marvin Gaye retire and bring back my "new" old standard avatar that I use for most places.
Awwww I really liked your Marvin Gaye avatar :(

I sadly can't play lottery or even daydream about it, both my mother and my grandmother were lottery addicts who spent their whole lives fantasizing about winning, wasting tens of thousands of dollars on tickets and living in depression from never winning. It's really hard when you see someone basing all her financial planning on winning a jackpot, and how she lives in a sort of constant state of paralysis almost because she's convinced her big win is just around the corner. My mother had huge fantasies she'd want to talk about (I didn't want to listen because I felt it was really unhealthy for her), it just makes me feel really sad thinking about it. I always knew if she would just plan a little and save her money she could improve her life.

So Dachs and I are the only ones here who're actually fulfilling the purpose of this thread? Sad!

I fulfilled the letter of the instruction. I am suddenly disqualified just because I spat directly into the spirit?

See, now I tried to do that too. But my other avatar won't fit on CFC. The forum doesn't let me load it.

What? No. But people don't count unless they have posted where I can see it, i.e. within the last page. ;)

I've been considering changing mine (finally found one I wouldn't mind using, but will have to do some cropping and resizing).

So, in GOP terms, you would be a hard-working job-creator who is crippled by high taxes?

That depends, would you be happy to employ more people if they'd just let you pay them at below-minimum-wage-rates?

You don't have to actually employ anybody. It's just, y'know, would you employ them in principle?

If by "fulfilling the purpose" you mean blindly jumping to obey the ill-grounded whim of the half-cocked OP . . . .

I stand in proud defiance of the thread's behest.

Meanwhile the thread veers off into GOP and politics discussion…

According to Sommer's Law, any thread not about Trump will eventually come to be about Trump, while any thread originally about Trump will veer off in other directions. We couldn't keep "Is Trump Done For?" on that topic for any amount of trying. "Change ur dang avatar" will shortly come to be about whether doing so would Make America Great Again.

I might be able to help?

Well, here I am, I did get rid of Obama after I was informed the process has been simplified. Did this 1-2 weeks ago, but apparently I didn't dig up the road enough for you to notice.

This thread will have to be periodically updated to remind me, otherwise, Mr. Bull will stay for a 6 year term like Obama did.
