I've decided that CivFanatics is going to be one of the few forums which will be able to vote on what Albanian works they'd like to see put online. If you want to know why, I... don't have an answer, but still.

Already quite a few Albanian works are online. Anything scanned from this list will end up here: http://www.scribd.com/jhamelin_2/documents

Other scanned Albanian works are here: http://www.enverhoxha.ru/ (note English-language works here and here)

To get some background on the Albanian materials, see:
* https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet–Albanian_split
* https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sino-Albanian_split

To vote simply pick up to three titles from this list you'd like to see scanned. The scanning process will begin in December.

I vote for:

Albania's Foreign Policy: Speech to the United Nations General Assembly (1979)
Answers to Questions about Albania (1969)
Questions of the Albanian Folklore (1963)

These would look like worthwhile texts to me. Will they also be translated into English? I'm afraid it's the only language I am comfortable with. Otherwise they look like wonderful titles. Just be sure no harm comes from them. I mean there are copyright laws and stuff. And there are also human welfare considerations to take into account. I wish you the best in your endeavor. And thank you for posting in English! :)

These are all Albanian works which were given official translations into English and published by either the Naim Frashëri or 8 Nëntori state publishing houses from the 1960's till 1990. None of them are copyrighted.

The government that was responsible for the publication of all these works stopped existing in 1991, so no Albanian will get in trouble for any of these scans.

I am glad you will not get into trouble. And I am glad that these works are being posted. I'm sure their authors will be pleased that their works survive. I am sorry if I sound in a way that you need to stick your tongue out at me. Sticking your tongue out can be playful and fun but it is also not always polite in my culture. There are appropriate times to stick out your tongue and inappropriate times. If someone is picking on you then you may stick out your tongue. If someone is explaining something to you then it is not appropriate. This is called "FYI" = For Your Information. It is not always easy to tell when someone is picking on you versus when they are explaining. That is a fundamental problem in communication. Sometimes it is necessary to pick and sometimes it is necessary to explain. You should only pick on someone if they are doing something terribly wrong. If they are just mistaken then it is best to explain.

Would you agree?

Yes, my bad.

It is OK. I am not perfect either. But I wish the best for everyone, even though I play and act silly sometimes. :)

Also it is often hard for me to stay focused on something. Sometimes I do things and I am not aware I am doing something wrong. For instance I may act arrogant at times. This could be because I have studied philosophy. Philosophy is not taught in American public schools. So most Americans are ignorant of it until they encounter it for the first time. They do not realize that philosophy is a wonderful thing and so they do not teach it in our public schools, at least not the ones I went to. They teach the sciences like physics, biology, psychology, sociology and anthropology but they don't know how to use those sciences for the purpose of good because they have not studied philosophy, the most important discipline of all. It is sad that so many Americans don't understand philosophy. They would benefit greatly from it. :(

Do you understand what I say? Your English appears to be very good so I hope you do. I wish I could speak your language but it is hard for me to learn, especially so many different languages out there. :(

I guess I should ask, are you from Albania? Or am I being silly now as well?

Me too, I'm interested in Albanian history under communist rule due to my interest in People's Republic of China's foreign policy and Sino-Albanian relation, and Sino-Albanian split.

If you have any questions about Albania from 1912 onwards feel free to ask.

I met an Albanian, this year, who had to leave Albania in 1992. He was in the army. And when the unrest broke out as a result of disappointment with reforms, the police ran off leaving the army to control some major rioting. All army members had agreed on what my friend called an unofficial pact: that they wouldn't open fire on their own people.

I remember seeing some video of four Albanian soldiers with riot shields, backed up against a wall, getting absolutely pelted with stones by rioters.

Anyway, when things had settled down a bit, the government decided to court martial all the soldiers who had "so plainly failed to bring the rioters under control", and charge them with treason. Which bore (and probably still does) the death penalty.

So my friend, and his family, smuggled themselves out of the country by boat at night.

They intended going to Holland. But the next thing they knew they'd been disembarked in England (for no known reason). No money. No English. At all. When he went and got a job on a building site, he told me, they'd ask him to go and get a shovel, for example, and he'd come back with a paving slab. They had to keep drawing him pictures of things.

I think it's all be sorted out now, and he could go back, but his daughters have settled in England by this time.

These ones sounded interesting to me:

* Ideological Aggression and the Struggle Against It
* The Proclamation of Independence of Albania: A Great Turning Point in the History of the Albanian People
* National Forces Against Imperialist Dictate in the Organization of the Albanian State, 1912-1914
* Education in the People's Socialist Republic of Albania (1985)

At the moment I am studying the GDR (Socialist East Germany) and I in general could appreciate any works which shed a light on how socialism worked in Albania because that may make for an interesting comparison. For instance:
- The functional role of red ideology as made use of by the ruling class.
- Economic concepts and their implementation.
- The academic environment and academic progress with regards to red theory in general, economics specifically.
- The organization and development of society in general, how that refers to red ideology and its political functional role specifically.
