Civ VII now available for pre-order - new details including a Civ & Leader

How can I confirm that I have the 2k thing activated correctly to get the bonus content?
Did you do it for Civ 6? Once you have the account you link them in game then you get the benefits

Nothing specific to do for preorder

So help me to make sure I understand the exact difference between the 3 preorder options because the way it was broken down seemed a bit confusing at first:

  • All 3 give the Tecumseh and Shawnee packs.
  • Early Access comes only with Deluxe and Founders packs
  • Crossroads of the World (1st DLC after launch) is included in the price of both Deluxe and Founders pack or could be purchased when released
  • Right to Rule (2nd DLC after launch) is only included with Founders pack or could be purchased separately when released
  • Deluxe content pack of 2 leader personas 4 profile customizations and 1 scout skin with Deluxe and Founders editions*
  • Founders Content Pack of 2 more leader personas, 4 more profile customizations, 1 fog of war tile set and 1 palace skin*
When it says "This digital-only edition is only available until February 28, 2025—get it now before it's history" it seems to be referring to the Tecumseh and Shawnee packs, and the leader persona/cosmetic stuff.
So with Deluxe and Founders you're paying $30/$60 for DLC you could buy later, 5 days early access, 2/4 leader personas, and some cosmetic stuff.

Am I understanding everything correctly?

To add to it, I don’t think Firaxis has ever made anything exclusive (nor does it say it is). So all the cosmetics likely could be purchased separately. I guess they’ve priced it assuming the DLC will be priced at $30 each and throwing the cosmetics in for free? Probably works out to at most a $5-$10 savings off list price if you were going to buy everything at launch prices anyway.

Edit: they are in fact exclusive. Corrected below

Why don't they include the soundtrack in these? I don't care about badges and pins and such, but I want the soundtrack.

From the civ.2K site FAQ (https://civilization.2k.com/civ-vii/faq/):

"Will any content from the Deluxe Content Pack or Founders Content Pack be available for individual purchase?

The Deluxe Content Pack will be available for individual purchase. The Founders Content Pack is available as part of the Sid Meier's Civilization VII Founders Edition, which is available until February 28, 2025.
Content inside each Pack is only available as part of that bundle. "

So I'm not sure the components from the Founders editions (2 leaders personna and some cosmetics) does not seem to be available later than the 28th of february....

BUT, what is nice is that if you buy the standard edition, you seems to be able to upgrade it to deluxe or founders edition before february 28th:

"Is there a way to upgrade to the Deluxe Edition?

At launch, you can purchase a Standard to Deluxe Upgrade to receive all content in the Deluxe Edition (except for Early Access, which ends on February 11, 2025). This upgrade option will be available until 2:00 PM PT on February 28, 2025."

"Is there a way to upgrade to the Founders Edition?

At launch, you can purchase a Standard to Founders Upgrade or a Deluxe to Founders Upgrade to receive all content in the Founders Edition (except for Early Access, which ends after February 11, 2025). This upgrade option will be available until 2:00 PM PT on February 28, 2025."

So, if you have doubt, you can preorder the base version (except if you want the early access, in which case the deluxe edition), and if you really like the game upgrade to founder edition...^^

Sounds like steam takes payment immediately, so no real point to preorder until early Feb unless one just wanted to get it over with

A little confused by the 'Right To Rule Collection'

Website says
  • Right to Rule Collection, with post-launch content featuring 2 new leaders, 4 new civilizations, 4 new wonders, a special cosmetic bonus, and more!*
*The Right To Rule Collection contains 6 DLCs, all of which will be available on or by September 2025 (subject to change). Each DLC will be delivered automatically in-game on release.

What's confusing me is that the collection is to contain 6 DLCs but then only 2 new leaders and 4 civs? Seems light for 6 DLCs?

I think the 4 civs with their respective wonders will each be a separate DLC.

The leaders may or may not be associated with civs, so can either come together in a package like the Shawnee/Tecumseh or be separate DLCs entirely. Perhaps there is one leader who stands alone as a DLC, and one who is packaged with a civ.

Then the cosmetic stuff is likely to be a separate DLC as well.

I feel like the key to good DLC is not making feel like "this should've been in the base game".

Civ is one of those games where they can on paper get away with content in DLC like new wonders, I loved the New Frontier Pass personally, it didn't feel like content I absolutely HAD to have in game, it felt like a good topping instead of a key ingredient.

Especially Babylon not coming with base Civ 6. I like how they've created DLC even before the game is launched..

That is my understanding and thanks for summarizing it so nicely!
