Civ VII Weekly Reveal Guessing Thread

At the same time, it feels strange to save Genghis until now instead of revealing him along with Mongolia - they could, but I don’t get the thought process. Saving someone more disconnected like Ibn Battuta would make more sense.
I could see them wanting to have Xerxes in a stream after his First Look, hence him leading Persia -> Mongolia in Exploration instead of revealing Genghis. Genghis Khan's status as a very well known figure also makes him viable as a surprise revealed after his home civ: he doesn't require a "justification" to be in the game.

The devs will obviously be playing America and Franklin.

I expect ibn Battuta to be present because he is a recent reveal (like Xerxes in the Exploration livestream) and he might be leading the Mughals as the most likely unlock from the Abbasids.

Mexico will be in, surely. I'd expect Pachacuti to lead them as a transition from the Inca, but it could be Tecumseh if they have the Shawnee free DLC activated on that build. Isabella might also, but I think they will lean towards Pachacuti as a more recent reveal.

They might have Charlemagne too, I'd guess leading France.

Amina might be leading Buganda and Himiko or Trung Trac leading Meiji?

That would round up all the officially revealed Modern civs and narrow down the surprises.

I second the Genghis Khan prediction, considering he’s another “big name.” Based on that comment about how egregious it was too exclude him from the base game, it seems sure to me.
It would at least be consistent to not include him with Eds massive nod to Britain being included if they also decide not to include Britain.

They may just have a serious case of foot in mouth disease

I assume the leader they've "saved for later" had this destiny due to not being finished earlier (either gameplay was too much WIP or graphics/animations were off) and not on purpose. Hence, I don't believe it's Himiko or a slightly postponed Mexican leader. Somehow, I don't believe in Genghis. I say Monty, Elizabeth or a wildcard non-leader.

This HAS to mean Lili'uokalani!

At this point I am sure Lili will be the Tamar of Civ 7

If it's the latter, it'll be quick fun to see Normandy have no transition to Britain
If Britain isn't in the base game it would make perfect sense

Of course they could also start with say Majapahit (sp) and transition to America using a gameplay unlock.... hoping that those are still in and they reveal something about them.

Himiko didn't look finished in the images to me. Although I think lot of the leaders don't look finished until they shown in their announcement.

I still don't get why people don't think Britain will be in the game. It HAS to be!!!
Honestly I'd be okay if it isn't, just a little annoyed, but come on, can't we give everyone's favorite largest empire in all of history a little love?

Because there are two unconfirmed slots left and we've seen pretty strong evidence for Russia and Germany. That doesn't mean there's no chance for Britain in the base game, but the evidence does seem to point to its absence.

Agree and disagree.

Britain, England, or the United Kingdom needs to be in the base game. It could have a hundred other civs, but without England, it’s of a kind with the EA and Ubisoft fare that is purposefully shipped incomplete in order to sell core content as DLC separately.

I would be more than annoyed with the omission of the largest global empire in history

I mean, if they're going for variety first and foremost and their biggest user base is from an Anglophone empire known for its history of settling and industrial prowess, they might feel fine holding off on a second Anglophone empire known for its history of settling and industrial prowess until a later DLC.
