Civ4 Plugins for 3dsmax 6 and 7 now available for download

ok ill try it....i have the nifskope and use it check out unit graphics but i do have a newer card so i guess ill try and get better with the nifskope too thanks :)
If your video card is an Nvidia you may be okay as I think the problem lies with newer ATI cards. I can't really verify this though as I don't have access to an Nvidia card. :crazyeye:

From the first post by Kael:

This actually links not to the max7 file, but to the 'evaluation download' page.
Which lists only the max2008 trial version.

I tried it, and it does not work with the plugins.
Like max9, it generates the 127 DLL loading error "failed to initialize <../civilizationIVMaxPlugin.dlu>"

Finding any (even an illegal) copy of the earlier versions of max is extremely difficult.

Hopefully some kind coder at Firaxis will do us a favour and upgrade the plugin for the current environment. :mischief:

Hello there,

anything new about this? I've run into the same problem...

thx!

Hi
I'm trying to learn how to customize Civ4 models - have 3DS Max 7 and latest Nif stuff .
Also have Blender.
Can I ask, what's my best bet to start modelling? Should I try blender? I read in one thread that you should use an earlier version of blender and python - is this still relevant?
I've tried Max 7 but trying to edit a model (following a tutorial from here) crashes the programme. Do i need a certain version of the Max-Civ plugin? Any relevant tips with the latest knowledge?
Just want to add simple bits to models (helmets, armour bits) .Also swap animations (I've read about the 'bone transplant' method and also the rename-model files-to-fit-animations).
Thanks in advance if you can help

Hi All
I found this site for 3d Studio max 7 3d Studio max 7 i am going to download this tonight when i get home and see what it does, got to start learning this stuff at some point or we'll never get all the models we want for our B5 mod.

Hi friends, how can I import poser file in to a 3d studio max Whenever I export poser file as (.3ds OR .obi) and import this files in 3d max, texture and character hairs etc not import in properly as I want so can anybody tell me how can I import poser 6 character in 3D studio max.

I am the kind of person who does not HAVE 700 bucks (a.k.a. not in collage yet), so what do I do?

Hello there, this plugins + scripts are simply great.

Its fast and does save animation with no error but 3dsmax 6,7 and 8 is going outdated each year. I've been using this scripts for oblivion animation exporting and now i've upgraded to max 2009 and the plugins works no more with new max version.

To the author of this wonderful Plugins + scripts, please recompiled it to support max 2008,2009 and 2010.

Don't let it die.

Please,Please,Please,Please,Please,Please,Please,Please recompiled it.

i fear this scripts wont´be updated - but you could try the scripts from the niftools team - no official work - but i think they will work with the newer max version

Does anyone know how to use this with the 2012 version? I followed the instructions, but it didn't work.

I have the 2012 Student Edition. I just got it a few days ago.

Does anyone have a version of any sort of max plugin that actually allows me to edit the details of the animation? I can import and export stuff fine but something is hardcoded in some way so that when I rescale an animation (say from 0.5 to 0.7) seconds and export it the exported version is still stuck at .5. It is as if I need to change some header or something. And this is obviously a problem because it screws everything up as far as the actual animation is concerned on exporting.
