Proposed: The Rules, only modified as necessary from the CivIVor rules
The Game rules:
1- 200 to 300 turns, one turn a day with short bursts of ten turns every few weeks upon unanimous agreement of scheduling.
2- Shuffle (randomly pangea, continent, archipelago, or fractal) Large map, default settings, 13-17 civs, normal speed, all Noble-level civs.
3- Don't Retire from the game!!!!! Use exit to desktop or exit to main menu instead. IMPORTANT!
4- Game will use
www.civstats.com tracking/notification.
5- About double moves - simultaneous turns will be set for the game. Thus, someone being the last to log in for the day's turn will then have the opportunity to be the first (aside from the AIs, that seem to go really quickly) to play the next turn. The rule is,
if you're moving around another non-AI player, wait a reasonable (say, 8-12 hours?) time for them to play their next turn before you play yours, so they don't get hit with what is effectively two turns of movement by you.
Edit: Per discussion later in the thread, double moves are allowed.
Edit2: per vote later in the thread, no double-moves associated with war declaration.
Diplomacy and general rules :
1- Friendly trash talk is accepted, aggressive trash talk is not
2- This is a newbie friendly game. Remember we are all friends and we want to keep it that way
3- No Talking about Tech before Alphabet
4- No map trading before paper, but discussing who is where is legal.
5- You can't gift a unit to an aggresive civ to get it promoted and then get it back.
6- No talking to someone about the game before you meet them e.g. cant get them to go to war with someone you dont know.
7- If you know you're going to miss a day or weekend. Simply put everything in the queue ahead of time -builds, tech research etc... You can also ask someone else (not an existing player) to do your turn. And keep Igloodude notified about absences so he doesn't kick you.
8- Civ choosing currently in progress.
9- We're starting out with no AI civs. Should a player retire before elimination, a replacement will be found if possible, AI control will be used in the interim.
10- Attacking a civ temporarily under AI control is frowned upon, but legal.
11- If you suspect that a tactic qualifies as an exploit, or think that it might be called unfair, post it in this thread for group decision earlier rather than later. Remember, we're trying to stay newbie-friendly.
One question - I am not fond of being a sort-of referee and a player at the same time; is someone who is not playing in this game (but still reading this thread) willing to be a referee for the occasional in-game questions that come up?
