Which is why you all gotta attack right now!

Boooo! ;)

Matrix, you have been a most honorable and excellent adversary - I am quite sure things would have gone markedly differently had Raisin Bran and Kan' Sharuminar not had such extremely timely forays into your lands, which seemed to occupy the armies that otherwise would have presumably been headed my way (in gratitude and admiration, the last [Genghis Kahn-] Mongolian city has been renamed to "Dumbo, WHKY" ("Dumbo, We Hardly Knew Ye" ;) ) (with "Knifey-Spoony" and "Land of Poutine" commemorating Kan's fellow compatriots)). I'm sorry I had to take that last city at all tbh - I had contemplated leaving it alone, but upon discovering it had an oil patch, I was unfortunately struck by a moment of neocon-esque thinking. ;) (btw, I didn't really understand that last communique you had sent my way - if you wouldn't mind elaborating, I am curious as to its meaning.)

BCLG, apologies, but I had to do my turn right now before you'd had a chance to do yours (and with Matrix having been eliminated this turn, our little war is now officially hot, FYI (primarily just because AI Tokugawa is apparently more aggressive than raisin-bran-loving Tokugawa was ;) )). I had meant to always move after you, but I have to leave right now for the evening and won't be home until late tomorrow (Believe it or not, my girlfriend just informed me a couple hours ago that her stripper best friend is potentially doing a private show sans bouncer (foolishly, IMHO), and she felt obligated to accompany her out of loyalty, so now I'm getting dragged into this and my evening just became one of being an enforcer for a stripper.).

It's cool, from what i can tell you didnt actually attack anything, to make it up to me therefore you can gift me half your troops.

Thank you for the reconciling words. ;) It was a most entertaining battle. But I knew my alliance would eventually lose, and that the status quo/cold war we had for quite some turns was especially in favour of Sparta. Then when azzaman333 destroyed my two best cities I was seriously pissed off (something that almost never happens to me in a game, but that was also because I thought azzaman333 DM'ed me) and I knew it was over. So I decided to attack Sparta; kill or get killed.

Civstats is down for a serious upgrade, may be a couple days. If whoever logs in that sees a new turn (or one about to happen) could post here, that'd be helpful.

Edit: 8hrs to go in the current turn.

Managed to get 2 GG's in consecutive turns trying to stop your advance sparta, shame i had to lose a city to do so :(

I was wondering about that. Nicely done - two in consecutive turns even has to be exceedingly rare. Nice accomplishment.

That was a helluva stand at Rostov btw - congrats. I should have known better than that attempt - I'd originally planned on holding at Matrix's former borders (and knew I didn't have enough troops allocated to properly assault Rostov solo), but once AI Tokugawa rushed in with that stack of his, I had hoped to accompany it so it didn't go entirely to waste. Then I got distracted last weekend (it was still worth it in the end though ;)), missed a turn and lost Tokugawa's stack, and it was all downhill from there.

The real kicker was my losing somewhere around thirty units trying in vain to prevent Tokugawa's units from going to waste, only to have him throw off his vassalage to me the very next turn, the filthy ingrate (first and last accepted vassalage ever; I knew I hated that mechanic ;) ). Hence the nerdy attempt at humor above (look, I even maintained the iambic pentameter from Julius Caesar! (and threw in a Canadian 'eh' to boot, eh?)). I hope that the settler I gifted him to re-settle his capital had a raging case of syphilis.

[Note: Above is directed solely at AI Tokugawa. Celtic Empire has no issues with Branagawa, except that we still have yet to receive our last shipment of poutine.]

But yeah, very nicely done on that stand at Rostov, BCLG [et al]. :goodjob:

Want me to log in and ask for vassalage?
:)

Well, no. Pretty much same as the last 50 turns, except I have 3 vassals now. That makes 4 different vassals for me in the game.

Note to self; need more vassals...

Logging in this morning I noticed that Civstats didn't show me as having done my turn, so I restarted the civstats uploader - that's why civstats shows me as finishing my turn without logging in.

Folks (this means Sparta, Azza, BCLG, Kan, VRWC, and I - everyone else is a vassal'ed AI or eliminated),

With combustion, I can now see that BCLG, VRWC, and I have a single land oil tile between the three of us and Sparta has two himself (I didn't check for Azza, as Sparta can supply him if they remain allied), there's now no nukes in the game courtesy of a UN vote, and from what I gather Azza will stick with Sparta even if it means guaranteed second place for him rather than possibly first. Azza and Sparta have the votes between them to claim a diplo victory, but haven't taken it.

Given that there's no way BCLG, VRWC, and I can defeat even Sparta alone unless Azza flips to our side, I'm going to propose that we conclude the game with the current scores reflecting the win placements (i.e. Sparta wins, Azza comes in second, and so on).

I personally like a fight and I'm certainly willing to hang in there even if I personally don't have a chance of winning (witness the CDZ game that's still running), but when the whole outcome seems preordained as in this case it is, I lose interest quick and I'm really not seeing a point to any of us continuing to play this out.

What say you all?

Even with me and my vassals, Sparta is still too powerful now that nukes have been banned. I have no qualms with Sparta being awarded victory and all other positions being based on current score.

I concede. I just don't think I'm ever going to get the hang of playing other human opponents. :(
