Oye, Oye, Oye!

All rise for the expert game of Civfanatics Diplomacy!

#1- Kitten of Chaos
#2- Flatlander Fox
#3- Oliver Gottleib
#4- Alphaman
#5- RichassesII
#6- Beerman
#7- The Duke of York (aka the Duck of Death)

This thread will be the official source for news on Civdip 002 (expert).

Preliminary notices:

GAME START is at March 16th. This means that:

a) accounts will be given out midday EST on March 16th

b) countries will be given out midday EST on March 16th.

c) diplomacy may beging on March 16th.

PROPOSED GAME DEADLINES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

PLEASE NOTE THESE DETAILS CAREFULLY as this will be a slightly faster game than Civdip 001.

Initial diplomacy period: Sunday, March 16th-Sunday March 23
First deadline for orders: 0001 Monday morning, March 24.
Second deadline for orders: 2359 Thursday night, March 28.

Each succeeding deadline falling 0001 Monday and 2359 Thursday thereafter.

If orders resolving retreats and builds are recieved on the same day as the previous deadline, they will be; otherwise the following deadline will immediately take effect.

PLEASE direct complaints or concerns about this deadline schedule to this thread immediately.

Recesses of up to a week can be set at the notice of the GM.
All mail must be copied to the GM; a summary of this material will be posted at game's end under "Civdip-stores and tales" in keeping with Civfanatics tradition, so to allow all players to see just how and act as a giant recruiting poster for cannon fodder for civdips 004, 005, etc.

Because expert players can always use a little cannon fodder :D, can't they?

GM Richard III

Are we giving you a pref list?

How will the account thing work? (Not: I am not big on this idea, as most of the players (5 of them) know each other personally, and may spill the beans before then.) I will figure out who Ollie is quickly, just by his hilarious messages.:)

If we pull this game off (and the moderate), I will probably be lobbying T-Fall for a separate forum... Or at least a shared forum in the stories and tales area. Civ-Gaming network has it, heck CtP has a forum! So if we can generate enough interest, we may be able to escape the Star Trek wannabees;) and Mornington Crescent trolls:)!

It looks good so far, we'll see how everything works out!

Yeah, I was going to ask for preferences shortly.

As for the account thing, I'd thought some players might want to TRY to be anonymous. For example, I have already developed a particular issue with at least one player's style in 001 that would influence my ability to trust him if I was playing in 002. So, anonymity can be useful. But look, if there is no support for it, fine, less work for me!

Re: Duke of York's request, let's look instead at:

Monday 2359HRS and midday Friday? Split the week right in half?

My main goal is to set something that's regular.

R.III

Could we split the deadline Tue/Fri instead of Mon/Fri. I'm in the same boat as Duke, and I usually have a few things to do at work on Monday mornings. Plus the whole time difference thing means Monday for you could mean Sunday for me or vice versa. I actually support weekly turns, but if you wanna go faster thats fine by me.

The email thing sounds like a bit too much work. If you dont want to know who the other players are then perhaps go Blind Dip (no diplomacy allowed and no one knows who the other players are). Based on FFox's post, if people are going to realise who the other players are by their writing style etc then it becomes a pointless exercise. Also if you know each other will that make for a poor game (ie You will not stab the other guy cos the other guy is your best friend from high school??)

Thats all I got at the moment.
Cheers :goodjob:

He is right, I would never stab one of my best friends at college...not a chance. Even the thought of it brings me out in a green flush!

Dude...it is a game! The objective is to do the BEST for your nation...if that means stabbing your best friend SO BE IT! For if he was hindering your Nation on its path to GREATNESS he must be eliminated.

Obviously you haven't been looking at the game that is running at present

Richasses II who is a great friend of mine had a fleet and army destroyed by a stab of mine...because it was the best thing for me to do to become powerful. Groups of friends play this game...if it divided upon how close you are with people the game would be a farce.

All other points being correct, I should point out that it IS a farce! Civdip 001 is perfect evidence of that... something like the classic UK sex farce with doors opening and closing from every direction.

"hem hem, no supply centres, please, I'm British"

Yes, that was a dig at you Brooks, you yankee poseur!

As for people knowing each other, I know two of the players in 001 pretty well.

They know each other too, and are currently trying to kill each other off in the Balkans...

No danger of favoritism here...

But maybe all of those games in Germany will come back to haunt me...

why the dig at me Richard, at least i've actually been involved in some battles. You do know that is okay to attack somebody instead of just sailing back and forth in the Med. I know by now you must have a nice tan!!!!

Um, yes, you have lost some battles, you're quite right.

And my groovy sailor's tan comes with a little of growth on my chin, too.

Oh wait, look at that growth closely:

:jesus:

Wow, it's four supply centres worth of growth!

That's means I've grown by as many supply centres as you have ever occupied!

Admiral Richard III of Italy
(oh wait, aren't I supposed to be the polite GM on this thread?)

yes it is quite convenient that your ally went belly up and allowed you to take all his centres.

I still don't know how you convinced him to let you occupy Trieste for him while he was trying to secure centres in the balkans.

Yes, well, believe whatever you want, I had to fight for two of them. But as for Trieste, well, the details of that will have to remain confidential until hostilities are over.

Keep it up against those Germans, though!

Or those Russians!
Or France!
Or whoever it is who has invaded England this week!

Geez, must be a let down for those poor Londoners. 950 years without an invasion of Britain, and then TWO countries up and decide to walk right across the water. A real let down!

It has to be said that Austria really does have some explaining to do!

Okay, okay, enough! Please forward your preference list to me schnell.

No particular format or whatever, just in straight, plain order:

1.
2.
3.

etc.

Forward to "project@canoemail.com"

Plain text if possible...

Thanks,

R.III

I am sure not all the players check the boards so I'd advise e-mailing them about what is going on etc.

Like my friend RichassesII he probably hasn't read the boards...

his e-mail is r.w.morley@dur.ac.uk as well u know :p

methinks there was something laced in the imported Parma cheese...
