Eagle is right that most first looks happen at 10AM EST (FXS HQ time), however first looks have happened every day of the week except Sunday with Tues/Wed/Thurs being the most common.

Huh. I didn't know the PNW art style was imitated so far inland. (I knew a simpler but similar style was used by the inland Athabaskans, whom the Tlingit called gunana, which means something like "hicks" or "philistines.") Hmm, did some Googling and the mask was made by a Cree artist, but it seems to be modern and a deliberate imitation of Tsimshian and Kwakwaka'wakw style. Nice research, Firaxis. :p

I took the Cree icon for granted and assumed that maybe there was a similar style to PNW artists further inland to some extent, but now it does seem like a bit of a mistake to have it as the icon, especially considering the care that otherwise seems to have gone into making the Cree. Perhaps a star pattern from a Cree blanket would be more appropriate?

I'd be happy to see any PNW nation depicted in game, also - in fact, I just want more Native civs full stop. But otherwise, I'm super happy with the civs announced so far.

Navajo definitely.

Most likely though I think is probably Sioux or Iroquois.

If they're going to stick to the expansion pattern of 4 new civs/4 returning civs, I'd say we're almost definitely not getting Iroquois or Sioux. Ethiopia and Maya have already taken two returning slots, and Byzantium, Portugal, and Babylon are still on the board.

However, there are two caveats to this. They've never done a season pass before, so we could get 5 or 6 returning civs for all we know, and that would open things up. The other big question is whether they're going to keep any powder dry for a potential second season.

To me the obvious move would be to make this season something like:
Maya
Colombia
Ethiopia
Italy
Vietnam
Navajo
Assyria
Morocco

If this season doesn't sell especially well, you do a final DLC for $20 or something like that with Portugal, Byzantium, Babylon, and a highly marketable alt leader or 2 (America, Egypt, China, etc.), plus a couple wonders. If it does, you do a second season anchored by the big 3 with plenty of options still available to pair with them (Austria, Armenia, Ireland, Iroquois, Burma, Siam, Hittites, Bulgaria, Gaul, etc.).

The most interesting piece of evidence we have is that the alt leader requires R&F - that basically kills the idea of making the Byzantines a Roman alt leader IMO, at least in this season pass. Which means we're either getting more than 4 returning civs, or FXS is removing a series regular without any sort of re-skinned replacement for the first time, or we're getting at least one civ after the season pass. Either way, Terra Incognita indeed.

Since there's also a patch coming on the 21st, there's not much time for first looks. Unless they're not doing an update video this time around, though I don't see why not.

It would be:
Today - First Look
Tomorrow - First Look
Next Tuesday - Patch video

Or:
Today - Patch video
Next week - First Looks

Or, you could conceivably have all three next week: Mon, Tues, & Wed.

I personally think having a video overview of the Apocalypse game mode, NWs, gameplay changes, etc. on Thurs. or Fri. this week, with first looks on Mon. & Tues. for the Maya & Gran Colombia next week, and then a livestream on Wed. showcasing the new mode would work out nicely and parallel past releases.

I really hope for a yet unseen european civ. Like Switzerland or Belgium.

I'm hoping for Finland, even if I know there are more obvious choices from Europe.

I do think we will be getting at least three first looks: Maya, Gran Colombia and Apocalypse mode.

They might also do a fourth video highlighting the changes coming with the patch. But considering we are getting new content. I'm putting this as a maybe

I'm sticking to Italy in my prediction, even though I think it's unlikely it will happen. Byzantium would have to come in a second season.

Trying to fit my predicted Civs into the DLC pattern, it would have to be something like:

DLC 1 - Maya and Gran Colombia
DLC 2 - Ethiopia
DLC 3 - Portugal and Angola
DLC 4 - Italy or Shawnee
DLC 5 - Vietnam and Mongolia alt
DLC 6 - Shawnee or Italy

i am still thinking firaxis is copying their normal kind of schedule. Like first look today and Tuesday. Wednesday might be a dual dev stream with both devs in their own rooms. I dont think the full patch notes will get much attention untill launch day. First looks might swap 1 day or so.

Amanda the new lead producer might be given a chance to show more of herself on wednesday. I think we will see/hear more from her before launch.

When do you think we can expect this to actually show up on Steam for purchasing purposes? First pack is only a week away but I can only find the news article on it but no actual DLC page yet

I think once the first looks are out they will put it up for sale/pre-order.

I think the only reason why they've not put it up as they will need to "advertise it" with images of the two new Civs/Leaders, and they can't do that without spoiling them before the first looks are released.

One more reason I could think of might be technical. Maybe it's not as easy on steam to do pre-order of DLC as it is in case of game itself? I think in case of Civilization all DLC's once they were available for sale, there were also immediately available for download. I don't know if there is a good example of DLC being sold before release date on Steam. Maybe someone re-call scenario like that with any other game?

That is ture... Did the first batch of 6 DLCs go on Pre-order? I couldn't tell as I had the DDE.

It is certainly possible to put DLC for presale...this is basic functionality for Steam.

In the announcement video where Ed Beach is sitting in front of tabletop boxes, one box says in huge letters I T A L I A

It HAS to be a subtle hint by Ed!
90%: no way, just a coincidence
10%: BUT WHAT IF IT'S NOT
