[NFP] Civilization VI: Possible New Civilizations Thread

gib my timurids (they’re persianized turks who claimed to be mongols and became indians but you get the idea)
From Central Asia I'll take what I can get because everyone kind of forgets it's there and that it was more than just horse nomads. :p

The Timurids could actually be a good Trade-oriented Civilization, with a Domination and Military focus under Tamerlane and a more Scientific and Cultural focus under either Shar Rukh or Ulugh Beg.

Definitely agree that Bactria and Sogdia are a big gap in the game's civs but Afghan civ from late the Medieval period til the intervention of European colonial powers would also be a solid choice.

Ahmad Shah Duranni and Mahmud of Ghazna are absolutely fascinating leaders from the Afghanistan region which deserve to lead Afghanistan and the Ghaznavids in civ respectively

I would love to have Bactria-Sodia civ but with a different leader with less Greek connection.
I'd be happy for a less Hellenocentric leader. I just suggest Oxyartes/Huxšaϑra because he has some degree of name recognition.

I feel like a lot of the good Central Asian choices would be considered a little too "short lived" or not "big enough" on the part of Firaxis given that the games tend to bias towards the "great" civilizations of history, to the games' detriment.

i like this conquering in order to win a culture win idea

i’d maybe go with the Zamburak as the Afghan UU and the Pashtun as an LUU, since Ahmad Shah is generally considered the first great chief of the Pashtuns, would speak Pashto, and having a Pashtun as a UU would really come full circle.

I mean... they did put Gran Colombia which fell within 2 decades, so I don't see why Afghanistan wouldn't be considered by the devs. :P

the Afghan kingdoms, particularly the Ghaznavids and Afghanistan proper, are probably their best choice. It’s just an issue if they pick exclusively a Ghaznavid to lead Afghanistan since they’re neither Persian nor Pashtun, but rather Turkic. Though, if Civ counts the Ghaznavids into Afghanistan, I would argue Afghanistan is more than worthy of both Ahmad Shah Duranni and Mahmud of Ghazna as dual leaders

I gave the Zamburak to my Mughal idea, so it's a bit too late for that. :P I wanted to portray Afghanistan that, while it would use a popular stereotype, would use said stereotype well.

The people are Pashtun, the language is Pashto. ;)
That is indeed why I chose the Pashtun as the UU.

given how famous they were for artillery, i would’ve gone mughal artillery for the mughal UU

given how famous they were for artillery, i would’ve gone mughal artillery for the mughal UU
It was used by Mughals, it was a form of self-propelled artillery, hence, Mughal Artillery as a UU. ;) I also like to stay away from generic terms like "Mughal Artillery." I like flavor in my Civs, thank you very much. :P

I would image that Simon Bolivar being the leader of Gran Colombia would have a lot to do with that. It really feels like a Bolivar civ, not a South American civ, which makes sense as I doubt there is another country so linked to one man.

Time to pull out the good ol’ Mughal design i made a long time ago

Mughals: Akbar

LA: the Wise Court of Akbar: Unlocks Unique Governor Birbal. Each city gets +2 science for every religion in it

UA: The Peacock Throne: All cities gain +2 culture per turn, +2 science for each assigned governor applied in your empire

UI: Mughal Gardens: built by a builder, cannot be built adjacent to another Mughal Garden. +1 food, +2 culture, +1 science on this tile. +2 food after research of sanitization. Must be built on flat grasslands, plains or desert.

UU: Mughal Artillery: Replaces Bombard. +10 strength compared to a bombard. Costs -15 production compared to a Bombard

UG: Birbal: 2-2-1 format

Start Title: Mantri: city gains +1 culture per specialty district building

1st Upgrade title: Kavi Priya : Theatre Squares next to City centers provide double adjacency bonuses

1st Upgrade title: Raja: all encampments can attack twice

2nd Upgrade title: Minister of Din-i-Ilahi: city gains +1 science for every follower of a religion that the Mughals did not found

2nd Upgrade title: One of the Navaratna: +3 gold for every follower of a religion that the Mughals did not found.

Final Upgrade: Brightest Jewel of the Ratnas: unlocks the Mughal Fort Inprovement, which yields +2 gold, +2 science, +2 culture, and acts like a fort.

I also like to stay away from generic terms like "Mughal Artillery." I like flavor in my Civs, thank you very much
