Well, both Russia and Catherine have just been confirmed, not much of a surprise tbh but it's still nice to clear some of the non-confirmed civs. Now it's just between the Germans(/Prussians) and the British

Hoping for Friedrich as Leader and a dark horse civ... Russia has no Civilian UU... maybe an Ottoman Civ with no Wonder... perhaps they have the ability to adopt a wonder from an earlier age.

True…but some Not Britain/Prussia civ that just has no associated Wonder. (say instead gets a bonus to building any Wonder or a UI plus 2UBs, or something else)
Topkapi Palace and, like, a few dozen other options. If we're going to have a "no wonder" civ, the Ottomans are one of the last that should be considered for it.

Honestly I'd love to see the Ottomans sneak in despite not having an associated wonder. Getting some middle east representation in the modern era and giving the Abbasids a reasonable unlock feels much better than having another European civ. In fact for a while I thought they were not including the British to make room for them.
But I don't think they're gonna add an exception to the associated wonder system that they just introduced, even if you can sorta justify it with Hagia Sophia
Welp, Russia's and Catherine's time today huh? So that was the last slot... Right? Yeah, unless I'm wrong on Britain, Germany/Prussia will very likely be a DLC... Oh the other way around... IDK

Yes, that's why it could technically make sense for the Ottoman's associated wonder to be a weird "wonder from a previous age". Though I'm only guessing that's what the original commenter meant

are we SURE that meiji japan is confirmed? other than the Himiko screenshot for the Switch version, is there any other evidence?
is it possible that different platforms may get a different starting set of civs and leaders in the modern age?
e.g. Switch users get Meiji on day 1 but PC / other platforms get Britain?

In addition to what @Zaarin said, we just had Himiko confirmed on the new screenshot, so we clearly could assume the rest of the announce is valid as well.
