pre-release info Civilization VII - Content Spreadsheet Thread - Civ overview!

pre-release info
are we SURE that meiji japan is confirmed? other than the Himiko screenshot for the Switch version, is there any other evidence?

is it possible that different platforms may get a different starting set of civs and leaders in the modern age?
e.g. Switch users get Meiji on day 1 but PC / other platforms get Britain?
Didn't they literally say that we woudl get a Meiji Japan and Himiko reveal "very soon"?

Based on screenshots from Dev Diary #7, one remaining leader falls alphabetically between Confucius and Harriet Tubman; the second between Isabella and Lafayette.

I'd say this absolutely confirms Old Fritz (not that there was any doubt). The J- and K- speculation commences...

Jamar of Georgia!

I had a dream about a first look for Jose Rizal, and it would be crazy if it came true. :crazyeye:
Personas would also fit him, if not Himiko.
Pretty sure we would have gotten him alongside the Qing, if that was the case.

He’d pair with pretty much every modern civ but especially Germany and Russia.
Wouldn't that make us have more "German" leaders than American/French? :crazyeye:
Charlemagne, Frederick, Catherine was born there, and Karl Marx if true.

Edit: Beaten to it. But honestly, I think he might be too controversial to include.

Karl Marx?
That would be utterly unacceptable
I’d be severely tempted to cancel my preorder
At most, I would never once use him in a game, and mod him out entirely if possible.

Dante lived too early to realize that the Ninth Circle of Hell is reserved not for Brutus and Cassius, but for Stalin, Mao, and Marx

Quick leaders recap:

1. Amina
2. Ashoka, world renouncer
3. Ashoka, world conqueror (comes with founder pack)
4. Augustus
5. Benjamin Franklin
6. Catherine the Great
7. Charlemagne
8. Confucius
9. ...(Yet to be revealed, very likely to be Frederick)
10. Harriet Tubman
11. Hatshepsut
12. Himiko (waiting for first look and guide)
13. Ibn Battuta
14. Isabella
15. ...(Yet to be revealed)
16. Lafayette
17. Machiavelli
18. Napoleon, emperor (waiting for first look and guide, needs a 2k account in civ 7)
19. Napoleon, revolutionary (waiting for first look and guide, needs a 2k account in civ 6)
20. Pachacuti
21. Tecmuseh (comes with preorder, deluxe pack or founders pack)
22. Trung Trac
23. Xerxes, king of kings
24. Xerxes, the achaemenid (comes with deluxe pack)
25. ...(Yet to be revealed, it's an extra persona coming with founder pack)
26. ...(Yet to be revealed, it's an extra persona coming with deluxe pack)

We know for sure that 2 extra personas have to be revealed because they are included with founder and deluxe pack, which means they will be associated with 2 between Himiko, Frederick, and #15. I don't think they're going to reveal an extra persona for another leader that has already had their first look.

Edit: this means that for more accurate leader predictions you’ll have to consider personas too.

True, but he’s certainly less controversial than Mao, Stalin, and Lenin. All of whom have been in civ previously. (Mao was even a staple.) He was a thinker and writer who died before anyone really tried his “ideas.” He just seems like a flexible fit, but honestly I’d rather have another African or a Latin American please.

For the first time in 34 years.. Gandhi is not in?
Start rethinking Frederick, too, b/c (if you set Napolean to one side) none of the leaders from Civ I are in the game. But that principle will hold only if Frederick is not in.

But such a schema explains some of the other absences we've found curious: Alexander, Elizabeth, Ghengis Khan.

And picking the leaders was the very first thing they featured in that little civs-through-the-ages video series.
