His upcoming legal trouble will play a big part in his not running. I think he will try to influence 2022 and try to be the kingmaker guy. for 2024 I think he will pretend to run until the last minute and then step away and have every other potential candidate come begging for his endorsement.

She saw firsthand what happened with Pence and others and knows that should she actually win the election she'd be repeatedly and often be put in the squeeze between obeying Trump's frequently-broadcast preferences (or thinly-veiled orders) and, well, her own good judgment. Don Jr appears to have no similar capability to read the writing on the wall.
