Not sure. They just come up as little circles.

I found if you right click on it there's the option to turn the graphs on and off. You can also turn on a "summary view" but I don't know how to get it back to the full view without closing and re-opening it.

Yes but as I understand it's an alternative to paging, moving RAM content to the disk. The problem is as old as computing it's just a new way to manage the memory. If you dont run into a lack RAM on a regular basis I wouldn't be bothered by it.

For Windows Defender, I have automatic sample submission turned off. Microsoft really wants me to enable it because every few days/weeks it starts displaying a yellow exclamation mark in the system tray icon and I have to dismiss the warning again. Is there a way to make it shut up?

Malwarebytes' free version doesn't have scheduled/realtime scanning and the paid version is a bit too costly for me right now.

I am seeing a large decrease in available hard drive space that seems to only correlate with Steam updating my beloved DotA.
Is it possible that Steam just installs new stuff but does not delete older version files or something like that?
I haven't installed, downloaded or created any files nearly as big.

I've seen a similar issue where for some reason Steam didn't properly clear out the downloading folder under SteamApps.

Both of these are good for showing you where the space went at least on Windows. There should be similiar programs for other OSes. (e.g. JDiskReport, cross-platform but unfortunately Java).

So far I've deleted the Steam Cache, which now allows me to use the Steam chat again, but I'm still trying to find where the 5-10 GB's worth of files might be hiding; even when accessing the folders as root it doesn't show up in the obvious ones such as steamapps/downloading. 'Tis a quest!
