"Conspiracy Theories" that you believe in!

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the U.S. government knew that some sort of an attack was coming, but decided to be slightly negligent in being ready for it (by not having their fighter jets ready and so on) so that they could later enact such things like the Patriot Act.

They've done similar and even worse things before, so I wouldn't be surprised at all.

That they turned into a less democratic state soon afterwards is alarming, and one has to suppose that it wouldn't be possible if they didn't have the "we were attacked!" narrative to scare people into support for erosion of democracy.

I don't believe in the illuminati or the NWO, but I do believe there likely is a global "Power" or "Puppeteer" class that, while not necessarily in union in a single body or organization, recognize they have shared interests to maintain the status quo and cooperate accordingly whenever possible, and who collectively control the lion's share of money, politicians, and resources, even if said class is too broad to act in concert.

I mean it's a common enough tactic for a government to get more power and take more liberties away from their citizens. It usually takes on the form of a false flag attack or whatever, but in this hypothetical scenario the result would have been exactly the same.

Not that I think that this is necessarily what happened, but it wouldn't be surprising at all. I mean, all you have to do is look through the history books and find examples of far more sinister things being done in the name of national security and not even that..

i'm pretty sure the kennedys killed marilyn monroe.

Some factions within the US government agencies, yes that is one conspiracy theory that may turn out to be true.

Money (finance) is a big conspiracy, but not an organized one. More like a diffuse one where one class unites in advancing its shared interests, against the others. Financiers (bankers, owners and managers) constantly conspire to write the rules of finance to serve themselves, at the expense of the bulk of the population: every increase in debt (quantitative easing...) that is not inflated away (see "financial repression") will inevitably increase the unequal distribution of wealth. Things that are supposed to be "good for growth" (investment, keynesianism...) can easily be made profitable for this class and nefarious for everyone else if inflation is quashed and debt keeps increasing. It's what civ quotes from Adam Smith about "people of the same trade gathering"... the danger of handing over power of decision over anything important to unelected people who are not often swapped with others (to prevent this kind of "conspiracy of shared interests" developing) is the rise of self-serving "technocrats" as we call them, or a "nomenklatura" as the soviets called theirs. It applies to finance, intelligence, the military, many institutions.

Big Pharma

Big Food

Got to be something in it.

In fact, aren't all multi-nationals involved in conspiracies of one kind or another? Seems to me to be what they're there for.

:yup: the urani at big pharma keep inventing new ways to extend life expectancy, so that you have more years to eat, while big food makes food more delicious, so we become obese and end up at the doctors with chronic medical conditions....vicious circle

Isn't it well known that that companies who produce/distribute corn have been lobbying the U.S. government to give them nice subsidies so that they can make more money? So now the sugar made out of corn is the cheapest (or whatever) and it's in everything and now everyone is fat.

I suspect Nick Berg was an American or Israeli spy (In 2001 Berg somehow ran into one of the organizers of 9/11, who ended up with access to Berg's email. Then in 2004 Berg was traveling in Iraq, ostensibly to set up a radio antenna business, but was captured and executed by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.)

I believe in the existence of an American deep state in some sense of the term (though I think most of the bureaucratic opposition to Trump is inertia and Trump's incompetence).

Death by JFK's sausage?

nahh, she did not get killed because of their dicks, she got killed because they were dicks....both jfk and bobby… :backstab:

"In recent decades, there have been a number of conspiracy theories about her death, most of which contend that she was murdered by John and/or Robert Kennedy, with whom she allegedly had love affairs. These theories claim that the Kennedys killed her (or had her killed) because they feared she would make public their love affairs and other government secrets she was gathering. On August 4, 1962, Robert Kennedy, then attorney general in his older brother’s cabinet, was in fact in Los Angeles. Two decades after the fact, Monroe’s housekeeper, Eunice Murray, announced for the first time that the attorney general had visited Marilyn on the night of her death and quarreled with her, but the reliability of these and other statements made by Murray are questionable". :yup:

There's not much specific.
Like, basically the rich and powerful work things to their benefits, but there's hardly a need for large stage collusion, and mostly not even secrecy
"The thoughts of the ruling classes becomes the ruling thoughts" and all that

Like, AHCA in the american congress these days is basically a conspiracy of sorts

The conspiracy theory where Francis Bacon and The Rosenkreuz Order is presented as the real author of the complete works of Shakespeare is both very entertaining and quite persuasive if you take the time to look through the entire argument presented. And with it's strong link to the mystery treasure of Oak Island it's IMO the complete package as far as conspiracy theories goes.

That is a nice one indeed :)

The last half 20th century, psychiatry has been infiltrated by big pharma, causing the DSM commission to state that ADHD, Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder are completely unrelated from personality disorders to justify medication for the former three disorders.

Asperger's syndrome was a rebranding of childhood Schizophrenia among high-IQ children to save children with psychotic features from the Nazi eugenics programme. (A benevolent conspiracy, though the term "autism" now does more bad than good)

While I don't hold the classic conspiracy theories with much regard, I wouldn't be at all surprised if governments - and those that can influence them - have likely covered up the true details of many events. I don't believe what they are hiding is necessary maliciousness, instead they hide their failings and shift blame that should fall on them elsewhere.

Here in the UK, the obvious example is Hillsborough (which is currently back in the news as several people have finally been charged with crimes relating to the disaster). Neither the Thatcher government, nor South Yorkshire Police, nor those involved in the design and operation of the football ground tried to kill the 96, but once it had happened, instead of taking responsibility for the negligence that had allowed it, they, with the help of parts of the media, instead blamed the very people caught in the fatal crush. It's taken the best part of 30 years for the truth about what happened to fully emerge.

I fully expect many other such cases exist - failings on behalf of the authorities that they have hidden and blamed others for.

There's a longstanding story, not quite history but something more than a rumour, that hardline elements in the British military and intelligence services were prepared to carry out a military coup against the left-leaning government of Harold Wilson in 1974. The evidence is mostly circumstantial and speculative, but persistent, and I find it, if not convincing, then at least credible.

After all, we know for a fact that the British security services engaged in broad and thoroughly illegal collaboration with far-right paramilitaries in Northern Ireland. It's not a stretch to think that, if the red menace seemed closed to home, some of them would be prepared to cut out the middle man.
