Crusader Kings 2

Ten years is a damned long truce.

This is true. If you really despise it (rather than just being mildly frustrated by it like me), you can go adjust it by editing the 00_cb_types.txt file, specifically the "truce_days = 3650" entry in almost all the CBs. That's how, for example, the Tribal Invasion CB has only a 1-year truce. Personally I wish most of the county-level and duchy-level CBs had 5-year truces, and only the really big Invasion CBs had 10-year truces, but I'm satisfied enough with it as is to leave it.

The changes definitely hurt truce-breakers, but remember - it's not like you can't break truces post 1.092. It's just expensive, and not to be done without thinking it through carefully. If playing one of the Jimena brothers from the 1066 start, I would probably still go ahead and break the truce immediately after my first successful holy war if I still had a clear numerical edge. Picking up a second duchy cheap and early at that point in the game is worth it. But breaking truces with infidels is no longer the default choice.

This is my longest playthrough so far, still trying to get to grips with everything so I've been doing mostly short runs.

The date is 1138. My dynasty — the Shannons — is represented in Irish Green.

My nephew rules in Iceland with the title 'King of Norway'. The actual Norway, as you can see, is balkanized to hell as I decided it would be both impossible to maintain control of in such a hostile environment (invasion) as well as not worth it to even try — basically I had no idea what to do with it. The title was going to be lost on succession anyway, my demesne was over the limit by nearly 200 titles, and all I wanted from Norway was England, not Nordic properties and troubles. Therefore, to prevent future Norwegian vengeance raids and claims on Britannia, I granted independence to roughly a dozen friendly counts, grand mayors and prince-bishops. All maintain a positive standing with me years later. In England, I handed out duchies to seven dynastic family members, trying to create some order in the chaos of a realm of 160 titles. Two duchies and a few counties went to well-behaved vassals and courtiers. All of my kingdoms have medium or high crown authority.

Scotland is currently undergoing some kind of crisis, which I plan to take advantage of while I wait for my Welsh truce to expire. Spain is dominated by House Jimena, with Galicia the dominant power on both the Med and Atlantic coasts, with Castille and Aragaon squeezed in between.

My original character died in just 17 years — one year of regency later, however, his son (below) emerged as the 16 year old Duke of Munster. His mediocre statistics belied his true potential, however, as he would go on to become the Crusader King of Ireland and be known as King Crundmáel 'The Great' by 25. Another 25 years later, and King Crundmáel 'The Conqueror', would be in possession of three more kingdoms: Wales, England, and Norway. Norway was invaded with a papal blessing and, with the allied forces of the Kingdom of France and the Holy Roman Empire, easily swept aside.

As you can see by his prestige, both titles are well-deserved.

I have a problem...

Dear Queen Helen died... But I'm still playing as her.
Also my heir didn't inherit either the Kingdom or Duchy title I held.

That's all pretty messed up.
Though also pretty Ironic considering the Paradox April Fools joke.

And the pic has censorable language...

The whole inane fuss over Sunset Invasion was bad enough, but if this hilarious April Fool's joke turns out to be a stealth announcement for real, Paradox will have become Death, the Destroyer of Forums! (I won't mind either way.)

I think it'd be pretty funny, but I'll wait for it to go on sale. I still need to pick up the Republic and the new DLC when it comes out. Zombies and Aztecs, and zombified Aztecs, can wait.

PI fans just don't know how good they got it - just wait until PI turns into EA! :mwaha:

When my modded games frequently include wizards, immortals, vampire counts or the Altmer Prince of Sunhold, I'm phased by neither Aztecs or zombies, however silly they might be in vanilla Europe. The first thing I thought about when reading about the zombies was being able to mod in CK2 illithids using the described zombie feeding code. :)

Make an Underdark mod, with Absoluter Cognatic for the drow.
