Cybrxkhan's Leaderhead Thread

Okay, I know you want to be done. but I think it would look cool if you took a page out of pencilgod's book. Remember how he turned Huayna Capac's robe into a cape for Marc Antony? If you removed the cape you have now, and did the same thing with this LH (coming out of the buttons or whatever on his shoulder straps, I think it would look pretty unique. You might also want to consider making his armor silver colored, but make the trim and bolts/buttons on it gold. I think it would make it look more unique.

Sorry, just some ideas, it looks really good though.

Well, I'm so sick of this guy I don't think I want to replace anything (but I'll remember using Huayna capac's cape for a future LH). It's just texturing and colors more or less now.

As for turning the armor silver, I was originally planning to do that, but it seems that one of the reference pictures I'm using (it's of Hephthalite warriors (well, or some nomadic group close enough to it)) has them have yellow-gold armour. But I could try that having the buttons gold and the armor silvery. I'll see how that works. :hmm:

Alright, after almost a month of running around in circles, I finally release Mihirakula! Admittedly there are some somewhat serious issues with him, such as with the neck and the armor, but I want to move on.

Anyhow, here he is. Another non-pacifist Indian leader. He could complement The Capo's upcoming Chandragupta LH well. :goodjob:

Thanks for the suggestion about the silver trimming, The Capo! It seems to work pretty nicely.

Alright, I'm moving onto my next LH, Alfonso. I'm going to try to see if I can base him off any of the Colonization Leaderheads. Anyhow, since I've never tried that, does anybody have any advice regarding Colonization leaderheads? For example, is there anything I should watch for? :hmm:

Unless you want to do a skeleton-swap, you have to stick with their original animations, that's about all I know.

Who's Alfonso?

Oh, you mean Alfonso X the Wise, right?

But I'm assuming it should be fine if, say, I make their angry animation their greeting animation, correct?

Yes and no. Basically I'm making him sort of a generic medieval Iberian leader. He'll be Alfonso X in World of Legends, but he'll be Alfonso I the Battler for my Aragon Civ of the Week. :crazyeye:

You're right about the animations, cybrxkhan.

I managed to have partial success with my first colonization-based leaderhead, Alfonso / Generic Medieval (Spanish) Leader. In fact, it even took quicker than I expected. I've attached a preview below.

Unfortunately, even though he does "work", there are some problems. Besides the pink eyeshadow and the fact that I need to change the colors for his shirt, the thing that's really bothering me is the fact that he looks kind of... bluish. So, to any of the more experienced LH makers, since I never really encountered this kind of lighting problem before, how would I go about fixing it?

Secondly, on a slightly unrelated note, what Background do you think looks the coolest for him?

I think the second and third are the best for him, they look appropriate to the time and geographic area. The first one seems a little bit too ahead of his time (just a little), the fourth is too generic and for the last one I'm worried you won't really be able to see the grove, since he'll be blocking it, so it will look odd.

As for the lighting, go into NifSkope, I forget what they are called but you'll see in the left-hand window some yellow circles on black bars, click on those and edit them, I'm sure most will be blue, that's the color of the light.

Actually, the "bluish" colour disappears when you add shaders, so don't worry about that.

^So... assuming the bluish-ness disappears with shaders, what will happen to the shadered version if I change the values as The Capo suggested?

Yeah, I vote for the 3rd BG too

I don't know. Try and see.

I'd give The Capos suggestion a go. I dislike to disagree with IgorS, but my experiences are different. When I edited Ekmeks shadered Attila, I had a similar problem. Ekmek set him up as he would be surrounded by fires what I disliked. I put Attila in front of a wooden palace in an ordinary daylight atmosphere. Thus, I had similar issues with lights as you and The Capo described, although I kept Ekmeks Attila shadered. Still, IgorS might be right if this is caused by certain lights (I suppose some lights are only active when the shader is disabled, but I don't know for sure), but then you'd still get troubles if you'd like to provide an unshadered version of your LH for users with weaker machines or simply use the shadered version for the ame purpose (this ways, the leaderhead might get unshadered automatically if the machine is found to be weak by civ4).

There is a difference between what you did and cybrxkhan's problem. I had this problem with a lot of my LHs and it disappeared when I added shaders. There is also a similar problem with pink lighting. You could see this problem in the very first versions of my Ablay Khan and The Capo's Yaroslav- the lighting disappeared after adding shaders. You should do what The Capo suggested if you're not going to add shaders. If you are going to shader your LH I wouldn't worry that much about it.

Alright, so I shadered the guy and it does work. However, he still doesn't look really that "shadered" - as in his shadered-ness isn't as apparent as before, i.e. he looks like he's barely shadered. However, it does remove the bluish-ness, and that's good enough for me for now. :D
