Is believing that an invisible unicorn doesn't exist in my pants a religion just because you can't prove it false?
Well done! You've managed to change my opinion about something!

Is believing that an invisible unicorn doesn't exist in my pants a religion just because you can't prove it false?
Empirically speaking:All you have to do is open your fly and show me that there is a unicorn in your pant to verify the claim of the belief that there is a unicorn in Warpus's pant.Is believing that an invisible unicorn doesn't exist in my pants a religion just because you can't prove it false?
I am very trying. And surely you recognise this is a nice contrast to god based religions, where the similarities throw the contrasts into nicely ironic relief.I just don't get why some people want to define atheism as a religion so hard. Why? It just doesn't work, you can stop trying.
A religion is a belief system centered around a spiritual dogma that describes some way of living a better life. It usually involves the supernatural and a prophet who was enlightened enough to describe this dogma to the rest of us.
but didn't warpus claim that "believing in a invisible unicorn that does not exist in my pants" really mean also that it can mean that "a unicorn that is not visible does not exist in the pants" being something of a religion because it is hidden from view?Ahh, but the unicorn is invisible...

Atheism is a belief system centred around the dogmatic need to reject spiritual doggerel and therefore lead a better life.
It implicitly demands the supernatural creation of life and universe from nothing.

You are right on that one can be an Atheist and believe that the Universe exist or have always existed because atheism is merely a doctrine about God does not exist. No it doesn't. Atheism is a claim about God, not the origins of the Universe. The two can be, but aren't always connected. One could believe that the Universe has always existed, for example.
Maybe i didn't understand it because it seems to me that it does not make a sound argument of reducing 'atheism' to simply synonomous to 'religion.'You misunderstand. The invisible unicorn in my pants example is meant to be a counterexample to the claim that atheism is a religion.
"The lack of belief in something" is not a religion but an expression of doubt. All you did is change the meaning of 'religion' into something of a "lack of belief" that is totally contradictory of the conventional meaning of the word 'religion.'If the lack of belief in something is a religion, then we are all part of an infinite number of religions, one of them being the "there are no invisible unicorns in warpus' pants" religion.

Are you adding "lack of bliefs" only so you can call atheism a religion?
No. Atheism is not a religion because atheists are not "held together" by these lack of beliefs. If there was an Atheist Church or some kind of unity in their beliefs, it would be a religion.
So how does your 'lack of beliefs' statement make sense then, if you need some unifying belief for a religion?
When the premise says -"I don't have belief that there is a God,therefore I am incline to believe in the doctrine of..."
Communism is the cocaine of the masses, though.
First of: great signatureDifference, Ziggy, difference. The car can be proven to be at the parking lot, in more ways than pure logic. Atheism, on the other hand, is a logical deduction, and cannot be physically proven.
