Empirically speaking:All you have to do is open your fly and show me that there is a unicorn in your pant to verify the claim of the belief that there is a unicorn in Warpus's pant.
It have nothing to do with being positive or negative.
In this day and age,one can have a unicorn in a pant.A figurine of a unicorn that old ladies collect that is stuffed in a man's pocket is one example of this.

I am very trying. And surely you recognise this is a nice contrast to god based religions, where the similarities throw the contrasts into nicely ironic relief.
Atheism is a belief system centred around the dogmatic need to reject spiritual doggerel and therefore lead a better life.
It implicitly demands the supernatural creation of life and universe from nothing. And recognises that any idiot enlightened enough to recognise this can be his own prophet.

No it doesn't. Atheism is a claim about God, not the origins of the Universe. The two can be, but aren't always connected. One could believe that the Universe has always existed, for example.

You are right on that one can be an Atheist and believe that the Universe exist or have always existed because atheism is merely a doctrine about God does not exist.
Maybe i didn't understand it because it seems to me that it does not make a sound argument of reducing 'atheism' to simply synonomous to 'religion.'
"The lack of belief in something" is not a religion but an expression of doubt.All you did is change the meaning of 'religion' into something of a "lack of belief" that is totally contradictory of the conventional meaning of the word 'religion.'

No. Atheism is not a religion because atheists are not "held together" by these lack of beliefs. If there was an Atheist Church or some kind of unity in their beliefs, it would be a religion.

Well, atheism is not a religion because of the fully logically proved reason that I posted above.
Lack of evidence does not prove the opposite. Due to the element of uncertainty, atheism is as impossible to deduce as is religion.

I took a class a few years back called "Philosophy of Religion" and the first day, the professor asked us "what is religion"? My response then was that it's an attempt to explain things that can't otherwise be explained. That definition is missing many important pieces, but it's a part of the answer.
And no, atheism is not a religion. If it's strong atheism, it is a single belief. If it is weak atheism, it is the lack of a belief. It can be part of a religion, but calling atheism a religion is like calling nudity clothing. Besides, why on earth would you want to call it a religion?

But if I can't see the parkinglot from my office and say: My car is in the parkinglot, I am speaking from faith am I not? Maybe it just was stolen. I forgot to put on the handbrake and it's bobbing it's merry way downhill towards the canal that runs near to the lot.
Atheism for me: It seems the possibility of a God is so small I can ignore it when I am plowing through life trying to make sense of it all. How is that not logical, how does that require faith and why would I have to prove that?
