[BTS] Deity One City Challenge on a Huge map with 18 civilizations

Is unrestricted leaders an option? Just pick the right traits and the French spot.
That doesn't seem to be possible in this scenario. Leaders are locked, also when the UL option is checked.

So, one day before start!
And still not clear about the best starting point...

I have tried several times this beginning of them - without hard thinking, just to get timing of the wonders and religions.
It looks like on this map Judaism/Stonehenge/Pyramids/Oracle appearing really fast.
Looks like marble start jeopardyse not only missing an Oracle ( that is acceptable), but even a Pyramids and that would be a disaster IMHO.
SiP has more production, so the risk of missing wonders is less.

Thanks for the nice idea and for the screenshots with the starting locations! I gave it a try to 1AD with England, settling Liverpool instead of London. Usually when I play OCC it is on standard size maps on Immortal going for peaceful space. Comparing to those games is difficult, because the scenario is different on so many levels. AI with their Noble (?) starting units were quite slow at first, but now at 1AD the bigger ones (Cyrus, Qin, Cathy) start to really pick up speed with their deity boni kicking in. Diplomacy is a headache with so many AI, lots of wars going on. So far managed to stay out of them, gifting small techs and giving tributes. Didn't get a religion so far. This would be easier on the mainland where missionaries might be sent. Chopped my forests already, which will force me to play differently for once (usually I go Lib->Biology->National Park even with only 5-6 preserves). Already curious, if big AI will become juggernauts if they start to vassal each other. So many boxed in sitting ducks already.

Are you sure you need National Park? I mean, at this map you probably can trade all resources with all that extra money. Isn't Iron works better if you going into space?

Ironworks imo is always worth it, even without coal and only iron (in case of National Park). What I meant here is I usually always build National Park in OCCs and will have to play differently now without forests (Hatty offered Marble and I couldn't resist a late GLib)

And we started!

Starting position:

Plan for the first move:
1. Warrior should declare war and steal the worker from Frederick. Frederick is namby-pamby, so it should not be a problem later. Of course -3 to relationship to him - is a big problem, but worker is too tasty and teasing.
2. Settle city in SiP. As your advices enlightened me - this start will be much better. It lose marble start at the second half of the game, but what you can do.
3. No choose technology yet, this can wait several moves.
4. Start building a warrior. Warrior anyway will be useful to prevent unhappiness, and the first warrior will go to search the map.
5. Espionage points! What to do with them? I think is the best usage will be - 100% to Frederick. The reason is that later I can steal from him some technologies on these points except trading them. Lisa is worse as to do espionage to her I'll need a sailing and a galley. But she will be much closer... may be for the second tech we could switch to Lisa.

Any objections, advices?

Do we really need to finish him? If we eliminate him, his space will take Cate or Caesar or Alexander - all 3 are really annoying opponents. Isn't it cleverer to have weak Frederick as a buffer?

I would keep him around for sure.

In addition to being a buffer, early production and research needs to directed to key wonders not killing Freddie given you can’t keep his land.

I wouldn’t put my spy points on him if you’re going to take his worker. He’s likely to put his points on you if you declare war on him and I guess there’s a risk that he won’t open borders. My understanding is that both of these factors would increase the cost of stealing techs from him. Lizzie seems a better bet to me.

Freddy starts with scouts, so not warriors. The option to raze Berlin is there. If you do you will have a lot more forests available soon. Culture fighting all the way to the copper will be a lot easier against expansions than vs a capital. Also with the German scouts eliminated you will have the hut on the pig up north at your disposal, for your 2nd warrior. I think the 1st warrior should move on to the next worker steal, probably from Greece. Not sure if he does but if Alex improves marble with a mine and then starts roading you will arrive right on time (it's a 2T window of opportunity), otherwise Saladin more reliable, roading everything all around (I've played this Imm/marathon where I visit Russia next. cannot speak from experience how to play this on Deity/normal) Note that not razing Berlin also causes trouble for captured worker(s) to pass through.
Maybe warriior1 can pick up a few huts too, in Africa (DoW Egypt, pass through) or in South-East Asia?

Warrior2 should be speed-built working stone I think, pick up the pig hut, then fogbust or move to Russia for worlker steal or the hut in Sweden. On marathon 3 workers is a nice number, would 2 be enough on normal? Warrior3 can stay at home for happiness.
Worker1 farms pig 1T underway to wheat right?

Looks like on the very 1st turns you have decide which strategy to follow, diplo or conquest. It influences build SH or not, raze Berlin or not, techpath.
I like the fastest way to Alphabet, through Priesthood as initially proposed. Reaching Alpha clears the sky big time. Wonder building + settled GP piling is usually the way I go whatever the goal.
