Deity Walkthrough - Native America

I'll play SB/NA instead. If I get attacked then I might stand a chance due to the UU/UB and protective trait.

I haven't been attacked early on like that in a while--sucks for it to happen now of all games. Think I'll play continents instead, I don't trust this treacherous hemispheres map anymore. ;)

Will update the OP with a new start and save soon-ish.

Wow, for a minute there I thought I had lost it, I saw the title and went "I coulda swore he was playing Freddy". LOL (well, dont mean to laugh about you getting rushed, Rusten, that sucked).

Is there a "timetable" for AIs, similar to the one there is for Barbs (barbs wont enter your cities until you have something like 3 cities or get to a certain date). Seems pretty early to get rushed, I would like to think the AIs would wait until at LEAST 500 BC. I mean, lets face it, if they AI was so inclined, it could probably rush the human player every single time on levels above Monarch, and even on lower levels, the AI could put a whippin on an inexperienced player.

same here @ Bleys. I thought the thread was for Frederick. Anyway, Rusten, too bad you got rushed by Cathy; she is the worst early neighbor. The map was promising too; very lush turf and resource heavy. Oh well, Sitting Bull is lots of fun.

I renamed the thread obviously. Didn't bother opening a new one as it was so soon. Everything should be in order now.

Feel free to laugh, that's all you can do really. There's no reasonable way to stop something like that before 1500 BC.

Funny story, the very first day I got BTS (had been playing Vanilla a few months) I started a Prince game with Ramesses, and promptly got smashed by a Barb event.

I literally laughed out loud. My girlfriend says "whats so funny, you got killed" and I just said "I know, but it was so amusing I had to laugh".

Kinda 'Vedic Russians', really.
This sucks. Hope the next game turns out better. ;)

You may want to add a note in your first thread about Frederick Rusten; I was really confused when I saw "sitting bull of NA" and then people speaking of Frederick ;)

Thought I'd play a little mini-round to make sure everyone knows which game is currently active. Just a quick look at the surroundings.

I moved the warrior 1SE which revealed some good tiles.

I decided to settle 1N for the banana and rice. I popped a scout from the visible hut and gold from another to the west.

I'm greeted by Washington/America on turn 8. Their scout came from the south. I better look up the personality sheets before the next session because I'm not sure what he's like.

Willem van Oranje also makes an appearance (turn 11) at the same spot as Washington's scout.

I played until turn 15 (other sets will be longer, don't worry :p). My warrior just died to the NE but my scout is alive and kickin'. Here's a look at what I've scouted so far:

You can see Washington's lands to the south and he's also founded Buddhism. Willem also seems to found a lot of religions in general, so there might be conflict between my neighbours this time. Hindusism hasn't been founded yet so it wouldn't surprise me if Willem grabs the holy city.

I went for a worker first and researched AH for the pigs. As you can see I popped horses in my BFC. With Native America I'm safe from barbs either way but I still appreciate the gesture from the map generator--maybe it's friendlier this time around.

And yes, it's sarcasm, because of certain people complaining about the "easy deity map" in the last game somehow.

:mischief:

Nah but seriously, I didn't mean to hate, but at the time of the montezuma game I had played about 6 games on Deity, and Rusten didn't face the same problems I did. It was more that I couldn't find an answer that set me off.

I still learned alot though, Rusten's definitely got skills.

@ Rusten

Good luck on the second try bruh, my first game i got rushed by 10 barbs at 2500 B.C.. It made me grab archery first (sitting bull might be the perfect leader).

I attached a half-assed list of AI completion dates, although you probably wont need it. I didn't always log Oracle but IIRC it was rare to see it before 1500, so I think it's doable without marble, assuming you find a way to not get smacked.

I'd like to play the game along without the spoilers, would that be ok with you Rusten?
of course 1640 bc declaration can't be coped with so a re roll is in order.

What do you mean exactly? Are you going to play the Fred game or the SB one? Do you want me to put my reports in spoiler tags?

Where can I get some personality sheets?

Anyhow, thank you for making this thread. I learned a lot from the Aztec on deity thread and really enjoy these type of threads.

Sitting Bull seems like a very brave choice for a deity game.

The threads are mixed together now, with lost of obsolete commentary.

I wish you would have left the Frederick thread alone in its original state and then starting a new thread for your new Native America game. This would have been much much much easier. Thanks.

I dare say!

This looks to be a great city spot.

Not that I would have been able to do anything with it on Deity level...

Good luck with your new game, Rusten! :)

There's a sticky thread in the BTS forum called reference guide or something similar--you can find it there. I don't use it much, but I wouldn't want to get rushed again unknowingly.

Great that you enjoy the thread--please chime in with comments along the way.

Oh well. It's too late now anyway. I did slip in a note saying the real thing starts on page 2 though--it shouldn't be that hard bypassing the obsolete comments.

I agree that the new starting location is great. The other one was good too, but this one has more commerce. I just took the first map I got though.

Dang, I was really hoping to see how that Oracle gambit played out. :( I guess it wasn't meant to be.

So what's your plan with this game? Looks like it calls for some REX. Without knowing more of the map I'd say a city 2N1W of the coastal rice is nice and later another one 2E1N of the pigs. I'd love to see a bit more of the map to the east and northeast before making a firm decision.
