[R&F] Devs Play as India

Which promises can an AI make to a human? How often are they willing to do so, but then break them?

I usually don't use it but I think Civ VI have all the usual stuff you can ask the AI: Don't settle near me, don't convert my cities, don't spy on me. Idk if there's more. The AI usually break those, which piss off a lot of players.

You don't suspect ai will get some massive free loyalty boost at high difficulty?

They didn't get any amenity bonuses in the base game for instance. I actually think they should add amenities to the AI's bonuses - i.e. +1 per city on King, +2 on emperor, etc. It would help with loyalty, and also I think things like the AI giving high peace deals because of war weariness and the like.

I'm a bit late to the party, just in case nobody watched the VOD yet to be able to pause, you can see the War of Retribution Casus Belli: "Used to declare war on a player who has broken a promise to you within the past 30 turns. No restriction on which cities you may capture. Warmonger penalty reduced by 50%."

A lot of people will like and use this one. It comes in Early Empire btw, so you will have it in late ancient era.

There’s going to be a whole lot of “ignore” clicking, I would think. Lol.

I wouldn't expect it. The AI gets bonuses to their city yields and starting units, but I can't think of a case where they get bonuses elsewhere. They don't get bonuses to religious pressure or influence points.

The idea of losing a city because the AI gets more loyalty points for free over the player (through no effort to use their diplomats strategically) wouldn't sit well with anyone, after all.

Now that's an insult! :lol::lol::lol:
At which part did it appear? I want to see it again :p

Edit: Nevermind, found it. It's 53:20, or so.

I completely forgot you can ask the AI about those things. I don't even bother anymore since the AI never adheres to their promises if they even make a promise. It's just a waste of time.

The player can ask the AI to make promises through options that dynamically appear in the diplomacy screen. I know you can ask them not to settle near you, not convert their cities, and not spy on them, if they have taken any of these actions. There may be others, but these are the only ones I can think of. I’m not sure if the options occur in PvP.

At least now you can ask the AI for those promises, anticipating the CB option to retaliate!

I haven't read the whole thread, but how can you make Wilhelmina angry? Wilhelmina is like your strict-but-indulgent aunt who passes out candy but will smack you with her parasol if you misbehave. :p The only leader I'd be more concerned about upsetting is Jadwiga, because I always feel like I've dashed a young girls hopes and dreams. :(

More importantly, I love, love, love the Georgian polyphonic chanting! :D

He was at war with her the second game. Attacking her surely will make her angry.

But you won't get a CB if they ignore your request or don't give the promise, which they did whenever I asked them ("We'll settle where we want to").

Its an OK system, but I wish you could ask these things pre-emptively. I have seen an AI Civ sending missionaries my way, & wanted to ask them not to convert my cities *before* the missionaries go to work.

Mixed bag for me. Never been ignored yet. 80% of the time they will make the promise to me, & will keep the promise about 60% of the time.

I watched the stream; the question was rhetorical.

I'm dense today. Well in that case, perhaps he ate her stroopwafels. She looks like she eats quite a few of them.

Probably a dumb question but can you have multiple of the same governor in your Empire?

So, could you have three of the Diplomat in 3 different City States or 3 of the Castellan in 3 different cities?

I would guess not.

From what I've seen, no. I can see situations where having more than one diplomat would be useful, but I can't see having identical diplomats (though the AI will have diplomats with the same name, but that's a different story).
